St. Luke's Medical Center (COE) Hospital
I said excellent to privacy because the nurses didn't even check on me to see if I was dead or alive. They forgot to give me lunch, they put the urine catcher in my shower after they didn't need it any more, and it was still dirty. The nurse discharged me and didn't give me proper discharge instructions. They kept telling me that they were going to get me to walk, but never came. Every time I asked to walk, they acted like it was a big production. Finally I just told them to forget it and I would do it myself. I DO NOT under any circumstance recommend this hospital. I was very disappointed to say the least.
I had an overall very good experience at this hospital. My room was very clean and neat. It also looked like it had been redecorated recently. It had a bed, a recliner, and a big window. I think it was just luck of the draw, but I had a private room. I had not specifically requested that. However, some of the other women had room mates and I thought that could be a benefit because they made a friend that is someone going through the same experience. Those are good bonds. Although I did not have a room mate I did get to know other women who had surgery around the same time as me from walking in the hallway. Everyone in that particular unit was there for the same reason and it felt very comfortable. My visitors had no trouble visiting. Also, some nurses were better than others. One nurse in particular, I wish I knew her name, was great. Overall I had a good stay at St. Lukes.
My first night there, the graveshift nurse was awful. From turning down my O2, to removing dressings that were not to be removed, it was a bad night. However, the next day I informed the staff and Dr. Zahn - I personally was not cared for by that nurse and the rest of my stay wa excellent. One of the nurses I referred to as super nurse - she was just great - I was lauging and happy the entire time.
While in the hospital I fell and pulled the cord in the bathroom. When no one responded a visitor from another room came in and saw me naked on the floor. Then a nursing student and a tech came and helped me back into the bed. ~~~ I accidently had a BM in bed and my husband had to clean it because the nurse told him she did not have time for that!! I could go on...
