Scripps Mercy Hospital (COE) Hospital
They seemed very equipped. I did not encounter one negative person when I wet for my evaluations. I will have my surgery on May 2, 2002. I had appointments on 3 different floors. From the receptionists to the Doctors, I was treated with respect. They had chairs that did not have arms on them. They did not make you feel ashamed. No one gasped when you stepped on the scale. I never felt more comfortable at any hospital.
Well, I have never been able to sleep in a hospital.
It seems that the nurses are trained to wake you up
to give you a sleeping pill!! My pain control was
ok, I had an IV and controlled it myself. I was one of the
lucky ones to have a private room. I think this
hospital is too liberal with visitation time. I had
too many vistors and they stayed too long. I wish
visitors would limit their own time and just drop in
and say hello and then go. The parking at this
hospital is close to the building, but extremely
expensive!! My wife spent an average of $10.00
a day and that was with a discount. If you tell
the parking attendent you are visiting a patient,
they will give you a discount.
Scripps Mercy Hospital is equipped with the most modern equipment needed to treat high-risk patients. I felt that the doctors and staff could handle any emergencies that might arise if a complication happened during surgery. I would like to take this time to commend the nursing staff for their professionalism and caring attitude. The nursing staff was very friendly and helpful even on the graveyard shift when I was suffering insomnia. I could not have asked for a better hospital stay than I experience at Scripps Mercy Hospital. I was constantly checked every hour by the nursing staff or when I pressed the buzzer for help or assistance. I was assigned to a semiprivate room on the 9th floor. I had company only part of the time during my stay. I felt like I had my own private room because I was alone for most of my hospital stay. I was in total control of my pain medication at all times since I awoke in the recovery room. I had a machine that self-administered morphine into my IV that I could control. During my stay my mother visited me during various times of the day during the allowed visiting hours. If I had to do another surgery this would be my hospital of choice. I think that I got very high value for the money that my insurance company paid for my stay. My surgeon selected this hospital.
