Scripps Mercy Hospital (COE) Hospital
While both surgical floors were well prepared for bariatric patients, Intermediate Care was not. If you have surgery at Mercy, pray for no serious complications. Further, make all concerns crystal clear to staff - I have related allergies that they were aware of. My situation could have been prevented.
Most of the time the nursing:patient ratio was appropriate, only short a few times. Overall the staff was so freindly and understanding. Very well equipped to do obesity speciality post op care. I saw one Nun while I was there and thought that it was wonderful to have some spiritual support as well. (Even though I am protestant)
I had two experiences, one with a nurses aide who lifted my feet as I was trying to get back into bed and threw me back in the bed the day after surgery. And one experience with a nurse who said that my binder was too high and proceeded to yank it down without loosening it first. She is actually lucky to be alive!!
