Morristown Memorial Hospital Hospital
The wing for bariatric care, didnt seem to look very bariatric care, the way a maternity ward, feels like a maternity ward. Patients with other health concerns were mixed among the bariatric patients. So much so, that the first night I was to stay in the hospital, I didn't even have a room, so had to spend the night in the recovery room. That wasnt my favorite aspect of the journey. Overcrowding gives you a righteous fear of staff infection... It really made me nervous. Nurses were nice though so that made the journey easier.
My only complaint about this hospital is that they put me in a room with a woman who was very loud and annoying. I did not get any sleep at all the first night. I thought the floor I was on was only for bariatric surgery patients but it wasn't. The hospital gowns didn't fit. The nurses were great, the nurse on duty the first night was very caring and concerned because of the loud roommate. The nurses were very professional and were happy to meet my needs.
I feel that the nurses were excellent. They responded quickly to my requests. All bariatric patients also get private rooms so visitors were not a problem. My only problem was with another patient that was near my room she screamed all night long. I complained to the nurses but they really were trying to get her to be quiet it just didn't work.
I LIKED THE HOSPITAL AND ALMOST ALL OF THE STAFF. WHEN DEALING WITH SO MANY PEOPLE THERE IS BOUND TO BE AT LEAST ONE THAT RUBS YOU THE WRONG WAY BUT FOR THE MOST PART ALL THE NURSES WERE GREAT. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE FACT THAT I HAD A PRIVATE ROOM FOR MY RECOVERY THERE . IT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN HOW COMFORTABLE I WAS AND HOW MUCH REST I RECIEVED
Although my overall experience was great, staff was excellent, there is room for inprovement. They put me on the WLS wing and floor "J", but I found and had a non WLS patient as a roommate. The room was extremely small, the other patient had bowel problems and the room smelled of fecies all the time. The other patient was nearest to the bathroom, and I had to almost pass within feet of him to enter it. Not only did he hog up the bathroom but he had up to 5 visitors at the time. and noise they made. The hospital bed was futurestic and super comfortable but so comlicated that the nurses did not know how to operate it. They need more training on this special equipment. One day it took 6 nurses and 1 1/2 hours of up down, to figure out how to lower me out of bed. Overall the care of the staff made my experience an excellent one.
