Morristown Memorial Hospital Hospital
My overall experience was great. I had several nurses that took good care of me. Unfortunately, I did have alot of pain and sometimes felt that the nurses weren't as prompt as they could've been. But they did bathe me and gave me anything I needed. Whenever I was awake, I felt like my parents and b/f were there, so having visitors was never a problem. I was in the same room with another WLS patient, so we took our "first walk" together and it made it alot easier. As far as I know, unless its overcrowded, there is a gastric bypass wing, so most WLS patients are with others who had a similar surgery. I also had an emergency surgery there with the same surgeon 6 months later, and I have to say, Dr. McLean, Dr. Ward and all the nurses at Morristown are wonderful. I live 1 hour away from the hospital, but would go there in a heartbeat. They really took great care of me and were genuinely concerned for my well-being and health. I recommend this hospital and the surgeons to anyone looking to have WLS, even if you have to travel a few hours- it is worth it!
The nurses were absolutely fantastic. They never complained and always were smiling. All of the nurses were great but Karen was extra special. It was just so obvious that she loves her job and I really looked forward to seeing her on her next shift. The second night I was in the hospital the 10 to 2 pm shift was really noisy. I heard the nurses say that they were understaffed and you could tell. There was lots of shouting down the hall to get this one this medication from the pharmacy or to go attend to Patient X in that room. They were working their BUTTS off. Then after 2 am it got so quiet--like it hadn't ever been for the rest of my stay. It was great. I slept for 4 hours straight and I felt so much better when I woke up.
All in all, I received very good care at Morristown Memorial Hospital and would highly recommend it.
