Little Company of Mary (COE) Hospital
I first met Dr. Cahill in August of 2005. At that time, our insurance would not approve me for weight loss surgery. Since then, we have new insurance, and I have been approved. I saw Dr. Cahill again on Valentine's Day. My first impression of him was that he is professional, intelligent, non-judgmental and kind. I really get good and accurate "gut" feelings about people and I got a good gut feeling about him. He took plenty of time (both visits) to answer all of my questions (and I had MANY). He placed much emphasis on the necessity of my commitment to lifestyle changes in order to succeed. He does have a structured pre-op and post-op program that encompasses nutrition, psychological well-being, medical monitoring, and so on. I am a critical care nurse, and therefore have a lot of experience dealing with doctors. I was truly impressed at Dr. Cahill's overall attitude and knowledge. I feel like he cares about people, along with being highly skilled. That is not always a combination you find in doctors, much less surgeons. I would recommend him to anyone interested in bariatric surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Cahill was that he was a great, wonderful, and caring person. Knew what he was talking about, understanding. His staff was very understanding also ans caring. They all seem like they all really care as if they all have had this surgery done to them. Cant really say there is nothing that I liked the least about him and his staff cause I wasvery impressed by them all. Dr Cahill is very prominent about after care very strong that you do as told. He was sure to tell me all the risks involved..
I think that Dr Cahill is the best in bedside manner an surgigal compentence... Thank you so much for everything Dr. Cahill
Dr Cahill and staff are awesome. I have never felt so comfortable in a doctor's offcie setting and with the people. Even in the waiting room, other patients are so very friendly - a direct relation to how Dr Cahill and staff are. Mt surgery was 11/7/05. Tony, Donna, Dr Cahill and a host of others took great care of me. THANK YOU ALL!
And yes I will be going to Dr Cahill's March ball.
My first impression, and how I continue to feel about Dr. Cahill, is that he is a class act.
I haven't seen him since my first consultation, but, I've been in monthly/weekly contact with his entire office staff.
he was reassuring, confident and knew what he was talking about. He never tried to hurry me up, and he listened intently on all questions.
His staff is just as incredible as he is. Tony, Donna, Tiffany, and Amy I believe are all wonderful. Sometimes it takes a few days to get a call back, but that is just because they are super busy doing work for YOU! Every time I needed an answer, I got it. They are very thorough and kind. Which, being an obese person, I can really appreciate.
I am blessed to have chosen a wonderful surgical team-now I just need to see their skills at work!
Dr. Cahill has a very structured pre and post op program, including nutrionist visits, dietician visits, personal trainer, and support groups.
Overall-they are a Godsend!
Well, I have a new surgeon, Dr. Gerald Cahill. Dr. Wood went back to practicing in Warren, MI (IL to MI commute too tiring and time consuming for him). He was very nice.
After seeing Dr. Cahill, he informed me that I could not have a Lap-Band, because of the 3-C-Sections, 2 Hernia Operations, and my Hysterectomy. I had no idea that my previous surgeries would prevent me from having a Lap-Band.
Dr. Cahill is an honest, no nonsense doctor. He knows what he's talking about, and has no problem what-so-ever, in helping his patients to understand the information that he's giving to us. Anybody can see that he actually cares about his patients. And his track record is quite impressive too.
So, it looks like I'll be having surgery in a few weeks... November 30th to be exact.
Dr Cahill is very knowledgeable and experienced. He was optimisitic.
His office staff exceeded expectations.
He was friendly and approachable.
This has been the best experience with a wls doctor.
He emphasizes aftercare, but is understandable about people who have to travel many hours to see him. He told me he would like me to stay in Chicago 5 days after I get out of the hospital in case of urgent care, since I have to drive 4 hours.
I rate him very high. He also did my daughter's surgery and a close friend, and they were more than satisfied with him.
Surgical competence is by far most important, but after that, it is very important to have a good bedside manner.
I will know more after surgery, but I have met him more than once.
