Little Company of Mary (COE) Hospital
I just had my consultation with Dr. Cahill yesterday and all I have to say is what an awesome doctor. The moment I met him I felt like I had known him for years. Very down-to-earth, very knowledgable, and very personable. I was supposed to meet with Dr. Wood at the Cori Center in Illinois but he stopped working at the Illinois office just two weeks ago. I was very apprehensive about meeting Dr. Cahill because I knew nothing of him. Once I found out he would be my surgeon I got online and read only positive things about him. He has done over 500 bariatric surgeries, no mortalities, and has only had three complications that were corrected within 48 hours of the surgeries. I have been working with the staff at Cori since August and cannot say enough good things about them. Tina Mussleman - his nutritionist is wonderful. There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Cahill. He is very approachable, has a sense of humor and really enjoys what he does. The Cori Center has a great aftercare program. This is one of the reasons I have selected the Cori Center to be where I want my surgery to be done. I have not had my surgery yet - I am waiting for approval by my insurance, but so far I would rate him a 10. That may or may not change after I have my surgery. If I come out of the surgery alive, and free of any complications which I a feel confident that I will, especially after meeting him, then I say he deserves the highest rating out there. Before meeting Dr. Cahill yesterday I was ready to just say forget it to the surgery because of the fear of the unknown and what could happen. Now, after meeting him I honestly cannot wait to have the surgery done. I just now pray my insurance feels the same way!
Dr. Cahill has been great, from the very beginning he gives you up front direct information and the keys that are required to be successful. You can call on his staff at anytime. His program is very structured and the followup is great. I rate him overall as a 10
I saw Dr. Cahill about a year and a half ago at a informational seminar. I was impressed by his direct yet compassionate manner. I had my consultation with him last week. We met for about 30 minutes. He was very informative. He answered all of my questions.
I was not sure what type of WLS I should have but I was leaning toward the adjustable lap band. He went through my information thoroughly and explained which surgery would work the best for me. He was very honest about the risks and pros and cons of each type. He emphasized the importance aftercare participation, support groups etc.
I had read in advance the stats on his surgeries and he gave me the updated stats on the surgeries he had performed and complication rate info as well as the type of complications. I would describe the over all experience as comfortable with Dr. Cahill. As with everyone who goes down this road I have had many reservations but I felt much more secure about my decision to have the surgery after my consultation.
When I first met Dr. Cahill I was VERY comfortable with him. His demeanor is pleasant and he is very informative about the procedure and risks. I am now not only happy with his work, I am overwhelmed with his kindness and caring he has for each and every one of his patients. He is truly a doctor that cares. You are not just a number to him, he genuinely cares! The staff at Dr. Cahills office is remarkable! From Donna (the receptionist), Lisa M. (nutritionist), Tiffany (office staffer - who is a prior patient that visits you in hospital), to Tony (doctors assistant & warden of rules) to Dr. Robinson (prior patient and psyc on staff) - THEY ARE THE GREATEST! The aftercare program is the most informative and structured one I have ever seen.
Words can not express the gratitude I feel for Dr. Cahill and his staff for making the whole surgical procedure so much easier/comfortable to go through.
I WOULD DO THIS SURGERY AGAIN IN A HEARBEAT - as long as I have Dr. Cahill and his staff doing the work!
Contrary to popular belief there can be a 100% positive experience. Dr. Cahill is amazing, he's an angel sent down from heaven for the obese of the chicago area. He is very informative, comforting, and kind. He's a talented surgeon as well. I noticed that his program differs from others in some ways, but I truly believe his main concern is the well being and success of his patients. He has an extremely structed aftercare program that makes it almost impossible for you to not be successful at reaching your goals. He's very thorough with making sure that everything is considered prior to surgery and that each patient is aware of the risks and challnmeges that they will face afterwards. His entire staff is like hime and it's a pleasant group to work with. I would recommend him to anyone in the area considering WLS.
