El Camino Hospital Hospital
I fyou are concidering having the surgery by Dr, Foster you might want to read my story first. Dr. Foster performed hte surgery on me four years ago and four years later I am expereinsing life threatning complications and not only is she not helping me in any way but she has dropped my insurence so I can't even see her. I was told that my visit would be anywhere from $200.-$600 but they couldn't tell me how much tell after the visit. They still refused to help even after they knew that I was completly disabled from being able to work due to hyperincalimic hypoglycimia due to gastric bypass. One year of wrighting her e-mails and calling her and begging for help and all I get is a call from her staff refering me to another doctor. You see you need to make sure that your doctor is not going to stop using your insurence in case you get ill and if they do that they will not charge you for your visit. That is how most surgons are set up, even Stanford has a 'no pay\" program in case this happens becaue everyone knows that if a serious problem arises that it is almost close to imposible to get anyone to do a reversal except for your surgeon. Some doctors are just in it for the money and do not care for there patients well being after they have gotten there check. Good Luck
Dr. John Rabkin was great. He went over everything with me and answered my questions. His staff was always there to answer questions as well. They helped me through every step of my insurance approval process. Even though I had a minor complication and was in the hospital for 7 days Dr. Rabkin visited almost everday and helped in any way he could.
I am very happy with my experience with Pacific Laparoscopy. Dr. John works with his whole staff as a team. I have received great support from everyone there. It is all of his staff, in addition to his great track record, that drew me to his practice.
Dr. Foster is very, very good. She is no nonsense and I very much appreciate that. Her office staff is helpful and they have anticipated most questions/concerns. The appointments preop handled my questions; they have a little preop class at the hospital that required which is run by the bariatric nurses.
He is very informative, walking you each through proceedure. I wanted to have Lap-Band, but he walked me through the procudure and after problems, for my specific prior condition (RA), and we both decided that this was not a very good idea. His assistant is just the sweetest. They both really want you to be a part of a group. They gave me a packet that has everything I need for before - during - after care. Since I was self pay they included some followup visits in the cost. I saw him once at the hospital after surgery (I of course was only there 1 night) and then I received a call from him at home a few days later.
I thank God every day for Dr. Foster! She is the perfect doctor for me. Kind, caring, and compassionate, but will absolutely not baby you or take any excuses. This is exactly what I needed. Some people do not like her because she is too \"scrict\". Yes, she expects much from you, but only because she wants you to be as successful as possible. My surgery was delayed several months because my iron level was too low to operate safely . Although the wait was frustrating for me, I appreciate the fact that my safety was her #1 concern. She has a zero mortality rate because she will not operate until she is sure you will be safe. I appreciate this very much. You cannot have a better doctor than Dr. Foster. Yes, you will have to work hard (I had to lose 30 pounds prior to surgery), but it is worth it. My surgery went perfectly (laproscopic RNY) and you can't put a price on that!
