I met with Dr. Wetter on Nov 24,1999. My appointment was scheduled for 2:30 pm,. He apparently got delayed, and his Staff kept me and my husband updated with each delay, from being delayed at the hospital, to delayed in traffic d/t a accident, Doctor kept calling in and telling the staff to offer me anything in the office. And when he did arrive he kept apologizng, we were impressed. He was very open, warm, he sat down with my husband and me at eye level and explained all the information in easy language so my husband could understand. and answered all our questions. His staff was wonderfull.

Mike and I had our first appointment with Dr Wetter on 03-01-00. We liked him very much. He very carefully explained the surgery to us, the good and the bad. He emphasized that once we had the surgery there would be no going back. He is very caring and answered all our questions. He also advised us he starts all surgeries as a lap, but if there are any problems he will open you up. His main concern is your health and well being.
We have an appointment with the psychiatrist, Dr Tatomer, on 03-14-00. Dr Wetter's office staff was very friendly.

I met with Dr. Wetter on 12/8/99 for the first time and was very impressed. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Wetter. He was very careful to make sure that I understood all the risks involved. What impressed me the most was a comment he made about how he will try to perform the surgery as a lap; however if he has any concerns at all about leakage he will revert to opening you completely up to make sure that everything is right the first time. The next step is to get insurance approval.....

Insurance was approved by Blue Shield in one day over the phone. Scheduled for 2/14/00

Surgery was completed on 2/14/00, released from hospital on 2/18. Dr. Wetter has a wonderful bedside manner and he is also a very competent surgeon. Dr. Wetter came to my room daily to review my progress and answer any questions. Experience with Mills-Peninsula's hospital and staff was also great. I am one week post op and have not had any pain medication since my 3rd day in the hospital and I am able to move around
quite well. I truly believe that it is due to Dr. Wetter's skill at performing laps. Highly recommend!!

DR WETTER IS WARM AND CARING BUT VERY MUCH TO THE POINT. HE MUST HAVE TOLD ME 3 TIMES IN OUR 1 HOUR MEETING THAT THIS IS A DRASTIC SURGERY WHICH MADE ME VERY SCARED.
I WORK AT THE HOSP. THAT HE ORKS OUT OF AND HE'S A GREAT SURGEON WITH A WONDERFUL BESIDE MANNER. HE IS 1 OUT OF 10 IN THE WORLD THAT DOES THIS SURGERY BY LAP. HIS OFFICE WORKERS WERE WONDERFUL AND KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING, THEY KNEW HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS SO THEY GAVE ME A CANCELLATION APPT. WE HAVE A SUPPORT GRP AT PENINSULA SO THAT WILL HELP WITH THE AFTER CARE.

This webpage has been the most helpful in my learning about obesity surgery. After a careful and thorough review of the comments made by patients on the bariatric surgeons here, I chose Dr. Wetter for my Surgeon. I just had my first visit with him and I was impressed. He was so nice and informative. He explained to me how the surgery worked because he performs the lap RNY (when he doesn't have to open you up due to complications) not open RNY. At the end he was very open to any questions I had, giving me both negative and positive things about the surgery. I had already done a lot of research on the web before going to him plus my mom had this operation 2 yrs ago. He works for Mills Peninsula and heavily promotes the aftercare program which is what I was looking for and it also includes a monthly meeting for patients (he attends to give talks sometimes) that I will be attending in January. The office staff was very pleasant and sweet. I do not have any negative comments about this Surgeon. I would rate him highly. His medical groups' webpage is

My first consult was September 22, 1999 and my laparascopic roux-en-y surgery was performed on November 9, 1999 at Seton Medical Center. It went great! I just love Dr. Wetter - he's very kind and patient. Anora at the office was very, very helpful. I am following a full liquid diet at this time since I am a recent post-op. I feel that the [email protected] support group online really helped to prepare me for this surgery and the feelings (physical and emotional) I've had since then.

I met Dr. Wetter on Nov. 3, 1999. He is warm and friendly. He made me feel at ease. His office staff were very nice as well. He throughly explained the surgery and told me he would try the laproscopic way but would open me up if the need arises. He also explained all the risks associated with the surgery and possible complications after. So far I am greatly impresses and pleased with Dr. Wetter. I'll let you know how he is as time goes by.

Dr. Wetter was articulate and kind. I felt he answered all my questions throughly without hesitation. His office staff was very responsive and assisted me with any paperwork I needed.

I am glad that I chose him for this surgery.

I suppose no doctor is perfect, but, this is the perfect doctor for me. I left my consultation feeling confident that I have made the best decision that will improve the quality of my life tremendously.

My first and lasting impression of my surgeon, Dr Albert Wetter, was that he was genuinely concerned with the well being of his patients. I had checked into several other Northern California bariatric surgeons, but at my first consultation, I knew that I had found the surgeon for me. He was very clear in stating what I could expect in my WLS journey, pre-op, surgery and hospitalization, and post-op, and all associated risks and benefits. He also was very attentive to my needs while in hospital, making sure that the hospital where I had my surgery had a bariatric bed for me, visiting me daily, making sure that I was as comfortable as possible, checking that my tiny lap incisions were healing properly, that the nursing staff had me up and walking as soon and as often as possible, and that I was taking in the appropriate liquid diet for my new stomach. I found his office staff to be extremely competent and able to help with all of my questions and needs in a very timely manner.
He required a psychiatric evaluation and nutritional education prior to scheduling surgery. Dr. Tatomer in San Mateo, who performed the evaluation, was knowledgeable about the surgery and made sure that I also was knowledgeable not only about the surgery, but also the benefits and risks. My nutritional education is ongoing with Food For Thought in Burlingame, CA. Dr. Wetter emphasizes aftercare and Food For Thought provides the recommended nutrition guidelines, and the counselors are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the needs of the Gastric Bypass Surgery patient.
Overall, I would rate my surgeon extremely high in both surgical competence and bedside manner.

First impression was excellent. He listened to me a seemed interested in my particular case.
He told me which PCP he works with the best so I went to that PCP to get the referral.
He talked to me off the record so I didn't have to submit paperwork to the ins company.
He has been through the insurance game before so he let me know ahead of time who too see.
Will give more feedback as I findout
