TriStar Centennial Medical Center Hospital
I just had my consult and I found Dr. Dyer to be very kind and informative. I am very excited to have found such a warm doctor who also is very professional! The office staff have been wonderful throughout the approval process! Dr. Dyer stresses the importances of changing your lifestyle. They have a wonderful aftercare program that is included in the fees which he talked about a great deal. He also went over each kind of surgery and gave me the pros, cons, and risks associated with them. I would rate him an 8 out of 10 due to his competence and seemingly good bedside manner!
FIRST IMPRESSION: Intelligent and knows his profession
IMPRESSION CHANGE: After seeing him while doing my surgery and then my husband's I came to understand that Dr. Olsen just wants what is best and since he knows the best way to get just that he's very set in his methods of treatment. I've come to trust him more and more over the past few months and I trusted him a lot in the beginning!
OFFICE STAFF: Friendly, competent, and REAL!!! (Some have had gastric bypass and know what I'm going through).
LEAST LIKE: Hard to get to know - all business; which in the end doesn't really matter but some people may be put off by this and not be able to get past his seemingly stand-offish mannerisms
FUTURE PATIENTS KNOW: He is a PIONEER in laproscopic surgery and knows 100% what he is doing --- TRUST HIM!
AFTERCARE: Ohhhh...he's very strict about this and will NOT take no for an answer!
STRUCTURED AFTERCARE?: Yes! Even including monthly psychiatriac meetings with a reknowned psychologist at no extra cost!
RISKS: Not downplayed but forthright and blunt, as it should be!!!
OVERALL RATE: 10+!!!
BETTER at Surgical competence, but I don't care - that's what I paid him for; not to be my friend!
Dr. Dyer was my very first choice in surgeon..After much prayer I was led back to his practice. I am glad I did. Debbie (the director of the program) is wonderful! I just submitted my packet and now will await BCBS appoval. They stress aftercare and that this is a lifelong committment and yes they do have a structured one.
My first impression was that he was very serious and to the point. He had a very professional attitude.
My impression has not changed much except that he does joke a little with me now.
The office staff is wonderful. They are really good about taking phone calls for changing appointments if necessary.
Just don't expect a lot of wasted time with him because he is very professional.
He expects you to attend support groups and psychiatric aftercare support groups also.
He does have an aftercare program.
He tells you all the risks of surgery on you first visit and answers any questions you have.
10
From my experience he has both surgical competence and bedside manner.
Dr. Olsen was very nice and informative. I had brought a lot of questions with me to ask but he answered almost all of them before I had a chance to even ask. Now I've had the surgery and my impression of him is the same. I had an infection to come up around my belly button from one of the incisions and I was so scared it would hurt when I had to go in and let him reopen the incision.
But he was so easy with me and kept asking if he was hurting me. He really does seem to care about his patients feelings. The office staff is wonderful also. I would recommend him to anyone who is considering this surgery. He is also very strict about the aftercare, if there is ever a problem he will make sure to take care of it. I would give him a 10 out of 10, Thanks Dr. Olsen!
Dr Olsen is a very professional at can give nothing but high reviews for him and the surgery. I am 4 months post op 115 pounds lighter an loving every minute of it. The office staff is greatThe follow up care is very thourgh. Would recommend this surgery to anyone and also Dr Olsen as a doctor.
My first impression of Dr Dyer was his professionalism. He seemed very concerned especially after surgery when my temperature continued to go up. He encouraged me to cough and deep breath continually. He was very concerned with me developing pneumonia.
Dr Dyer's office staff was available and nice.
I'm not sure if I could say I disliked anything about Dr Dyer. I have lots of questions written down on consult and he seems to really enjoy knowing I have prepared questions for him.
He emphasize aftercare constantly and they have a structured program in place.
When addressing the risks of surgery,Dr Dyer was straight and to the point. He did not sugar coat anything. At the same time he also pointed out the risks for continuing to be obese.
If I were to give a number out of 10 to Dr. Dyer it would be 9/10. Very competant and pretty good bedside manners. Both are equally important to me
I love Dr. Dyer! He is very personable and friendly, but will tell it to you like it is, straight forward. Since my surgery, I have ran into Dr. Dyer at various social events, each time giving him a huge hug, of which I think kind of bothered him, as I'm sure he receives many of them from his patients.
The one thing that concerned me was Dr. Dyer's lack of concern over my low energy level that developed 6-9 months after my surgery. I had to go to my PCP to address that medical issue.
Dr.Dyer's surgical competence and bedside manner were both great!
dry standoffish

I was recommended to Dr Dyer from a friend at Church. I was impressed with his knowledge about this surgury.
I thank Dr Dyer for this life changing surgury. I feel so good about myself now. The staff at his office is wonderful. Very kind, helpful and caring.
There was not anything negative about my experience.
He wants you to follow the program by keeping up with a support group, keep track of you meals and vitamins. Also exercise.
Structured aftercare is what drew me to this DR
All the risk were told to me by Dr Dyer and also the seminar that I had to attend told alot about the pros and cons of the surgury.
How do you rate a Doctor like this. I know knowone is a 10, but he is a close candidate.
Surgical competence and bedside manner were both great. You can just tell he cares about his job and taking care of each patient as if you are the only one he cares for.
