Carraway Methodist Medical Center Hospital

My experience with this hospital was a pleasant one. Everyone I came in contact with was very nice.(Admitting, 7th floor, OR holding, OR staff, and the 6th floor). The nursing staff on 6Goodson was great. I especially liked Audrey, Sabrina, and Mark. These were the people who mostly looked after me during my stay. I also thought alot of Wayne (he took vitals). He was always so nice, polite, and friendly when he came in to check my vitals. The thing that I liked most about my hospitalization was having Debbie Estep, Bariatric Coordinator at my side. Debbie met me when I first came in the morning of surgery and stayed with me until I was taken to surgery. It helped take away alot of my anxiety and nervousness. Debbie also visited me daily. This meant SO much. She is a true asset to Carraway Hospital and to Dr. DeWitt. I didn't mean to leave Dr. DeWitt to last, because he is number one in my book. He is such a competent surgeon and a great person. He is also an asset to Carraway Hospital.

I have never seen worse medical care.I have been a nurse for 11 years and was appalled by my lack of basic medical care.I woke up to this old lady in the recovery room telling me I was supposed to hurt.I never saw a nurse except the 2 times I had to wait over 1 hour for pain med.I went home the day after surgery because i'd rather take my chances at home.Oh, the best part was being shown where the elevator was at discharge with no escort on the elevator (where I almost passed out)!Yikes!!!!!!!!

Overall it was a good stay. The nurses were very nice. However, it seemed like the night shift nurses came to check on me a lot more than day shift nurses. Also, I went all day for two days without getting any juice. I was in ICU for two days and the waiting room where my family stayed was horrible. The chairs were horrible and it was in a secluded part of the hospital.

It was about 4 - 5 hours after surgery before the first person checked on me. I was sent a tray of soft food when I should only have gotten fruit juice. I had to search for fruit juice, it was not brought to me. I called for pain medicine once and had to re-call at 45 minutes. When nurse came in in about 10 minutes, she was still not aware that I needed something. The desk staff was the pits!!!!

the only thing other than the nurse my last day that i didn't care for was the housekeeping staff. the never knocked before entering my room. they would come into the room and start messing with stuff without letting me know what they were doing!!! and then would leave the door standing open when it was closed when they came in. other than that the hosp. stay was good!!!

It was very clean, but didn't have that ammonia smell, the walls and floors just shined. The nurses and everybody from the cleaning people to the desk clerks were just as nice and friendly as they could be. My husband would ask for something and they would give it to him right away. The night nurses even came in and explained the surgery to him a little better. I can't complain they really took care of me well from the admitting desk to the discharge desk.
