All of the staff during each shifts were nice people who responded to all of my calls and needs. They seemed very concerned of my discomfort during the first night and did all that they could to make me as comfortable as possible.

Overall, my hospital stay was a good experience. The nurses were very helpful, and especially the nursing assistants. One assistant's name was Valerie. She was wonderful! She checked on me often, which meant alot to me.

There is always some good and some bad. I think some staff members treat bariatric patients differently because the surgery is elective.

The staff was nice. I was placed in a floor where gastric bypass patients normally are not placed. I was placed in the cardiac floor because the other rooms were taken. The nurses were not familiar in taking care of a GP patient, but they tried and did a good job. They learned from me and they were great.

My first impression of Dr. Classen was at the seminar that Village Surgical held for anyone interested in bariatric surgery. He was very informative. Dr. Classen answered everyone's questions as well. i was very impressed. i have since met with him at his office for the first initial visit. he seemed very nice. i have only met Donna, which is one of his assistants, at Village Surgical and i was very impressed. she took the time to answer all my questions and assured me of all my fears as well. i felt so much better after talking to her. it is evident that she has alot of faith in the doctors there at the office, as she has had the surgery herself. it made me feel better knowing she had been thru the process herself. if i had to change one thing about Dr. Classen, it would be for him to spend alittle more time with the patient during the first visit. but i will have to say that thus far in this journey i have begun, that when i have emailed questions to Dr. Classen, he has answered/responded to my emails pretty promptly. he,himself, has answered the emails and that says alot for him.i would refer him to anybody interested in having gastric bypass surgery. as i meet with the doctor and go thru the whole process i will update.

I have not met him yet but as a nurse I have referred patients to him and received rave reviews. I am scheduled for the seminar hosted by Dr. Classen and his associate, Dr. Davidson on January 12, 2005.

1-17-05--I attended the seminar last Wednesday. I came away with a wealth of information! Dr. Davidson and Dr. Classen both seem to be very dedicated to helping their potential patients. I feel comfortable so far with both but I still am leaning more to choosing Dr. Classen as he has a confident air about him that makes me feel more confident in my choice of having surgery and in my choice of surgeons. As promised, Pat from their office called today to schedule my first appointment which is tentatively scheduled for 1-25-05.-----Rescheduled appointment for 2-2-05 as this date will fall after the next paycheck! :-)

6-14-05--It has been months since I have added to my profile due to an act of nature....Lightning struck our home in March and I just got the computer back after the homeowners insurance settled. Anyway...My surgery was on 5-31-05. Everything went better than expected. I could just go on and on about how wonderful Dr. Classen is. He is very straightforward yet kind and gentle. His confidence as well as competence is amazing which made me, a person who is normally SCARED of everything to do with surgery and the possible outcomes, feel very safe and comfortable. Would I go to him again? ......in a heartbeat, because I trust him and that in itself is very important if not the most important opinion to have of a person who will be manipulating parts of your body. I would also recommend him to my family and friends without question or hesitation.

I had some great nurses and assistants; Kobrina (Probably spelled wrong), April, Amy, Leslie, Connie and Katrina. Hopefully I named them all because everyone that took care of me on 3 South was wonderful as well as caring and attentive. I couldn't have asked to be put on a better floor.

My first impression of Dr. Classen and Dr. Davidson is that........ they know their stuff!

On the consult Dr.Classen asked if I had any questions and I had but just one.....I asked him how he felt about me having this surgery? He replied with he thought it would be great and I will feel a whole lot better.

Donna and Pat are tremendously nice people. They answer calls, they answer email & they call you back ASAP, they support your weight loss and surgery. All I can say is what a help & blessing they are!

Dr. Classen can sometimes be quiet, but if you make eye contact with him and speak up he listens and replies. I must say ...the fact that he actually answers his own email impressed me!

VSA has a very structured after program and although it seems rigid but its good for me and every one else.....keeps us on our toes!

They addressed risks at the seminar, on there website, at the consult, and the 2nd appointment...I'll let you know if they address it pre op.

Dr. Classen gets a 10+ from me so far.

You need both and a good surgeon will give you both....but I like a surgeon who doesn't mince words...overall a competent surgery is best don't ya think?

WAY TO GO DR. CLASSEN AND VSA!
