Brigham and Women's Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Hospital
I am a current patient of Dr. Sheu who performed a Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass on April 21, 2015 as a tool to assist with my life long battle with obesity. I cannot express enough kind words about Dr. Sheu's level of care! He was extremely clear on all of the steps/medical tests leading up to the procedure and what to expect in my recovery. I have never felt rushed in any of my appointments, he patiently answers all of my questions and is always very responsive. I am happy to report I have lost 95% of my excess body weight since under Dr. Sheu's care and look forward to his support as I enter into this challenging maintenance period!
Dr. Shikora and the team at Brigham and Women's are dedicated professionals who care deeply about their patients. I felt welcomed from the start by everyone on the team. Dr. Shikora was patient and relaxed, which relaxed me. All of my questions were answered and I never felt that I was asking a silly or stupid question. I was guided every step of the way. I would recommend Dr. Shikora to anyone looking to have any kind of bariatric surgery.
Very Impressed with Dr. Robinson. He conducted the first surgical seminar that I went to and left a very good impression on both myself and my hubby. I will be meeting him for surgical consult on 11/17/09.
**update on 2/7/10,** Met Dr. Robinson and I honestly have to say that I was very impressed. He is all business and very thorough. He will listen and answer to any concerns or questions you may have. He takes this very seriously, but all in your best interest. I am very glad that I chose him to be my surgeon. I recommend him to anyone considering WLS.** Also, his staff is Fantastic !

9/20/10 Dr. Robinson did my surgery, (RNY) and he did a great job! I would recommend him to anyone seeking to have this kind of surgery.
I am not very impressed with Dr. Robinson, but would have had to wait months for a new doctor. I feel his bed side manner leaves much to be desired. His visits are very quick and feel impersonal. I did not like the Brigham at all, it seemed dirty and smelly. The nurses did not seem very attentive. I wish I had done more research on a better program. I wish I had chosen a woman.
You will find the best medical professionals and skilled doctors in the world here. Boston after all is the Mecca of medicine!
But in the different offices in the hospital you can be put through hell by office staff or find just some amazing person who is like an angel! Some get very stressed and overworked. Some are very rude. Some abuse their power by threatening not to give your surgery date, etc. Overheard one worker threaten someone on the phone for calling her on the wrong day of the week!!! Had a similar experience with someone myself back in 2001. If they pull that crap go right up the chain of command!!! Some people have desk jobs there in different offices and just don't seem to want to be there, almost like someone forced them to work there.(perhaps that is the case) It is sad because so many people today need jobs and would love to have their job!
I found other professionals there to be just amazing people. Like this one woman who was involved with the restore study who just always went above and beyond when it came to kindness and helping.
In 2001, I had some great nurses but others that just should not have been there. Because of that I picked a different hospital for the plastic surgery. I just was not ready to spend another night there with the bad ones.
BWH overall if top notch when it comes to doctors and reasearch. Sometimes in a place this big one can feel a bit lost.
