Dr. Spector took the time to listen to my concerns and worked with me to find a way to help me. The nursing staff was amazing during my stay in the hospital. Dr. Specters secretary is very helpful.

Dr. Spector is an amazing surgeon, a down to earth person who really cares about his patients. He will push you, give you speeches and motivate you all while educating you. You will achieve your goals and change your life. I have made so much progress in 6 months that my husband is now having the surgery with Dr. Spector. We are so happy, the surgery and this doctor has changed our lives!!

My Weight loss surgery Was something I needed To do To help me get through a different situation. The staff between the doctors, nutritionist, psychologist are well equipped to handle any sort of situation that arises. They are very knowledgeable in their expertise And very kind very understanding. I would totally do it again. Dr. Ashley Vernon is the best.

Meghan Ariagno is a wonderful asset to the Brigham and Women'ts Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery team. I first met with Meghan during the 6 month Pre-operative Weight Loss (POWL) Program. She, and the rest of the team, are extremely knowledgeable and really helped me prepare for how my eating habits would dramatically change after my bariatric procedure through this group program. I then worked directly with Meghan in my Post operative nutrition appointments. She has been an amazing support after my surgery and has helped me through some important milestones in my weight loss journey. I look forward to continuing to working with Meghan to sustain my weight loss permanently!! She is really awesome!!

I don't even know were to begin, Dr Shikora SAVED my life!!!! On Feb 28,2012 I put my life in his hands and new that his help was gong to change my life for good! I was 537lbs the day i was married on Sept 27,2008 and was a ticking time bomb for death Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, and so many other issues! I made the decision to HELP myself and get control of this life long issue. When i walked into Dr. Shikoras office i new he was not only going to help me but also become my friend. The first thing he said to me was Why do you want to have weight loss surgery? My answer t him was " I want to get healthy" He said that is true but, "DON'T YOU WANT TO LOOK GOOD" And i knew at that point it was my turn to better myself. He sent me home with a goal to get to 400lbs and for the next 6 months i was focused on a better me! I got to 400 and went in for my Surgery on Feb 28,2012 and i haven't looked back yet! Today i am feeling great and I am now a proud father of my baby boy Dominic born April 22,2014! I weighing in at 255lbs and I work hard everyday! Sometimes it is hard to stay on track but i know i will never get myself to that unhealthy stage again! Dr Shikora and the entire team at BWH are amazing people! I can not thank you all enough for your support and help during my journey! To anyone thinking of having Weight Loss Surgery, Here is what i will say! When I started my weight loss journey to prepare for weight loss surgery back in August of 2015, I knew I wanted to go through this major event at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The thought of surgery always scared me, but I knew that weight loss surgery would help me have the best chance for a healthier future. I initially chose Dr. Shikora based on hours of internet research. When I met him I was beyond impressed with his warmth, his honesty, and his sense of humor. He walked me through my weight loss surgery options, and I immediately felt comforted. He answered my questions honestly and clearly, and I never felt shamed or like "just another patient." Whenever I was discouraged about my weight/weight loss struggles, he motivated me in the most positive ways possible. On my day of surgery, November 16, 2015, he visited me beforehand to check in on me and ask me to decide if, should an RNY be too risky, I would want him to give me a sleeve gastrectomy (to which I said yes) - and that is exactly what happened. Starting when I woke up in the OR I noticed his bedside manner is simply incredible. During my 2-night hospital stay I saw him 2x each day - simply to check in on me, answer my questions, and keep me smiling - all signs that I selected the best surgeon for me! In truth, I was/continue to be blown away with the whole team at BWH - Dr. Davidson, all of the nutrition team, the nurses (esp on floor 15), the anesthesiologists team, and everyone I've encountered in Dr. Shikora's office. As of writing this I am 7 weeks post-op and I've never felt better in my entire life - I would highly encourage anyone even considering weight loss surgery to attend the information session, do some research on your own (this is your journey, after all), and meet with a surgeon at BWH (I highly recommend Dr. Shikora)!!

Dr. Sheu has been great throughout the whole process. He has always been available to answer questions in a timely fashion. He listens to your concerns and advises appropriately. Surgery went as well as I expected, I have had no major problems just the normal side effects right after surgery which subsided within a month.
