Blodgett Campus Hospital
There were very serious shortage of staff issues. My mother requested that they release me based on the fact that she was providing all of my care. the did not get you out of bed you hadto demand that they come when you needed help. Sometime I.V. alarm would sound for more than an hour, before being attended to. Everyone I came in contact with was very friendly but far too busy. One orderly I talked to had 27 patients on her shift she is suppose to help all these people?...It was an awful experience and I recommmend that all patients have a family member with them at all times.
I love this hospital. Every one was friendly and professional. The Nurses in my unit were the best. Professional yet personal and some great sences of humor. ( not always the best for this surgery - laughing hurts ) I totally enjoyed my stay there. Not that this matters, but Spectrum has an incredible collection of art displayed through out. And a great cafeteria for your friends and family. The Renuche Hospitality house where my family stayed has great accessability, parking and price along with other benifits. First Class Operation.
I had to wait for EVERYTHING, way too long, in my opinion. When you are in extreme pain and you have counted the minutes to finally get to meds time, you shouldn't have to wait longer -- but this was not unusual. One night, I finally had to tell them that INEEDED MY MEDICATION PLEEEEEASE after they were 15 already minutes late (I was in so much pain, I had to bother them). But then, I was dismayed to find that I STILL had to wait another 15 minites or so. That made me very agry.
The staff were a mixed bag. Some absolutely excellent folks, some very sour and unsympathetic. EXCELLENT student nurses/nurses'aids
Overall, this hospital was disappointing. I REALLY wish Scholten and Vanderkolk could affect a change in how this place works, but I doubt they could. Spectrum seems to have systemic problems that no one doctor could make right. Maybe feedback like this will help!
