I am very impressed with Dr. Duncan. The first thing that made me realize that I made a good choice in Dr.'s of course was his expertise in his field. Then I had a problem with insurance and I asked Karen Brown if she could have him call me and he did! ! He was very pleasant on the phone and didn't sound rushed or agitated that I had concernes. He was so helpful and sweet. I finally met him on March 29, 2003 at a support group meeting. He was a guest at the meeting and has a GREAT sence of humor. You can tell he genuilly cares about his patients and that his passion is his surgery. He took time to talk with people and visit and he was just soooo nice. I so far have not changed my impression of him.
I have the pleasure of speaking to several of his office staff and they have all been very helpful and nice.
I have referred several people to Dr. Duncan.
I have told them to be patient because he is in high demand but I also stress that when it comes to your health he is worth waiting for.
He stresses aftercare and the importance of the aftercare program. He tells you everything about the risks of surgery. I would rate him excellent so far. I will update after surgery (4-23-03).

I have changed surgeons and as yet have not met Dr. Duncan but have spoken to his staff a couple of times. They where very understanding in my plight and said they would try to get me processed as soon as they could. They did not think that it would take as long because I am already approved. I will get to meet Dr. Duncan on April the 17th during a seminar that he is giving so I will update then.

I was able to get in to an earlier seminar given by Dr. Speights who is a surgeon in Dr. Duncan's practice. I have honestly NEVER been in an office where the people are as nice and caring as the people in Dr. Duncan's office. Everyone from office staff to Med tech's to Dr. Speights herself. They appreciated that my time was as valuable as theirs and made every effort to keep to the schedule that was given to me, and let it be known that is their standard. I have not met Dr. Duncan yet but from what I have heard from Dr. Speights he will go all the way to do whatever needs to be done for you but in return he expects you to be prepared for what is about to happen and has some very definate ideas about how to go about this. I think he is right on, the place of your surgeon is to do the surgery not to lose the weight for you, this surgery is so extreme and you should know what your getting into no questions no suprises! I can only assume that I will love Dr. Duncan, anyone who demands his office to be run the way it is, is a man who respects others and who is understanding of the seriousness of the decision being made in the instance of this surgery.

My surgery went so well. Dr. Duncan instills so much confidence in his patients. He visited with me that afternoon and his assistant saw me the next morning. Someone from the office has called to check on me since surgery.
Dr. Duncan is very easy to deal with. He stresses education and the patient's responsibility for after care which is provided through is office. He is very thorough.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Duncan as excellent. I have felt this way through the whole experience. Thanks Dr. Duncan!
His office staff is friendly and caring. Every time I have needed something, all I had to do was call. I always loved talking to Joyce because she was matter of fact and very on top of things. I don't know how she deals with all the patients calling and asking a million questions! Thanks!

Dr. Duncan was very professional and has a wonderful sense of humor I met him before and my impression of him hasn't changed.I think his office is ok.I think they need to all work on the same page and that's not what I experienced.I really like Dr.Duncan.What his future patient's have to look forward to is a very knowledgable doctor the best in his field and I got that from another doctor.Dr.Duncan stress aftercare he made that very clear that's a must if you plan to be sucessful with this surgery.Yes he does have a aftercare program and he emphasizes support meeting's and diet and vitamin's.He did address the risk factor with this surgery. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'll give him a 10.I consider competence to be very very very important but to be as sucessful as Dr.Duncan you have to have the complete package.

I have not yet met Titus Duncan. I have seen him on the news.I guess I will meet him during my pre-opp. The office staff is ok,I guess. Sometimes you have to stay on top of them to make sure things are getting done. I have had two friends have the WLS with Dr. Duncan and they have been happy with their results and with the staff. I guess I will see in the future.

I have not yet got to meet Dr Duncan. My first visit was with his assistant and many other people were in the initial meeting. We then all went w/her individually to take measurments, check the abdoman, etc. The entire staff was extremely friendly. The time in the waiting room was extremely long though!! I will certainly let you know more when I meet him! There are many things he does require or he will turn you down as a patient. You need to go to support groups. You also need to make a clear effort to loose weight prior to surgery. Any one who gains weight will not be operated on by him or his staff. I guess he wants you to be aware that the surgery itself is not enough to get and keep you healthly in the years to come.

I have not been able to see Dr. Duncan in person yet, but the 20th of March is my pre-op, and I am so excited. Dr. Ducans staff is great, everyone is so helpful.

I went for my consult today. What an ordeal! I was there at 9:30 was not called back until 11:15 then waited another hour.
The staff was very nice, just hated the wait - it seems like they could do a better job with scheduling.

Dr. Duncan was not there, I saw one of his associates who asked a few health questions (already answered on questionnare I mailed in and another one today). She asked if I had any questions that Dr. Duncan had not answered in the seminar which I did not. Before you are scheduled for a one on one consult you are required to go to a group seminar where Dr. Duncan does a slide show and goes over every detail then answers questions. She looked at my stomach, chattted a few minutes then sent me on my way. She said they would be in touch with me and would get started on my paperwork to send in to my insurance company.
Overall the visit was okay.

Surgeon change!!! I'm now seeing Dr. Titus Duncan, lapro-surgeon extrodinaire! Incidentally, he loves this website and made mention of it in the meeting last week.

Dr. Duncan is VERY nice, intelligent, informed and entertaining. We (bf & I) went to his seminar last week and met him afterwards. I've sent in my packet (which I think was probably the most complete packet they've ever seen--I'm ready for this to happen!) in UPS overnight Friday. Now the wait!

Dr Duncan has a very realistic view of obesity. He emphasizes a "program" view of weight loss, not just surgery. This made me feel much more comfortable. He is a little close minded about other kinds of surgery (such as VGB) but I know he has his reasons. Overall, I give him a 10!

My BF's scheduled for April 15 to have a lap VGB w/ Dr. Champion. He's very excited as well. Looks like mine will be mid/late summer.

Dr. Ducan has saved my life. If it wasnt for him I would still be 340lbs and miserable. I'm 2 years out and loving life. Dr. Duncan and his staff have been so very helpul in everyway. Every since he asked me to be in the Seasons magazine article my mom says my head has swelled twice as big, and my confidance has soared. Thank You! DOC
