my first impression of dr. duncan was wonderful. he is very kind compassionate, caring and has a heart for overweight people.
my opinion of him has only gotten more respectful of him. the office staff is ok there are some improvements that need to be made and i am sure that over time things will improve. he practice has more than tripled in 2 years. future patients should know that he is a perfectionist and only settles for the best and expects the best for his patients and asks that his patients be honest nad upfront with him as he is with them. his aftercare program is going to be the best around yes it has a way to go , but he is working on it. he has a dietican and exercise physologist that you see and can call for questions.
I have waited 15 months to have my surgery. I have fought tooth and nail with insurance co. etc. I have researched Dr. Duncan and his references are impecable. I waited for the best and the reality will be soon enough. My surgery date is May 30, 2003. I would like to commend one office staff member Karen Brown for her patience and understanding going through such a trying time. I am very impressed that Dr. Duncan has someone on his staff that has gone through this procedure and understands what we all are going through. I am looking forward to being a LOSER it can't come soon enough!!!
I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I WAS AN INFORMED PATIENT, SO I DID ALOT OF BACKGROUND CHECKING ON MY PERSPECTIVE SURGEONS. THERE WERE THREE. ALL WERE VERY QUALIFIED, BUT I JUST LIKED WHAT I FOUND OUT ABOUT DR. DUNCAN. I SAT IN HIS LOBBY AND TALKED TO PATIENTS WHO HAD THE SURGERY, AND EVERYONE HAD POSITIVE FEELINGS TOWARDS HIM...EVEN A GIRL WHO WAS HAVING ALOT OF PROBLEMS SAID SHE CONSIDERED HIM THE BEST. I ALSO USED OBESITYHELP.COM TO SEE WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT HIM ON LINE. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL HE HAS A VERY GOOD TRACK RECORD. ONE THING I CAN SAY IS HE'S DONE A COMPLETE BACKROUND CHECK ON ME TO MAKE SURE I'M READY FOR THIS. HIS STAFF IS OUTSTANDING. THEY ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO TALK OVER ANY PROBLEMS...(ALOT OF THEM ALSO HAVE HAD WLS)...AND I LIKE THAT THEY GO TO THE MONTHLY SUPPORT MEETINGS.
I haven't met the Dr. yet, The other surgeon in his office performed the consultation class. She was very friendly. She did not talk down to any of us. His staff was very friendly overall. Karen Brown was extremely helpful and was eager to answer any questions we had. Joyce was very helpful when I was going through my appeal, anything I needed she had to me within days.
Dr. Duncan is one of the most impressive people I have ever met. He spoke at one of my first support group meetings. I asked him why he chose this field of service and he told me he enjoyed getting to know his patients and following their progress. His staff is excellent and his practice is growing rapidly. He really cares about each patient and follows through. I loved the entire experience and enjoy the follow up visits. They are informative and readily available if I have questions. Several of the staff members have had the surgery and can relate to me and what I experience in each phase post-op.
I went into this surgery well prepared and with no questions remaining, full of confidence in my doctor, his staff and the hospital. I would highly recommend my doctor to anyone looking at this surgery. I realize it isn't for everyone but it certainly was the right way to go for me. I really haven't had any negatives to this point (5 weeks post-op).
I believe that he will do a wonderful job. he is genuinely concerned. You can tell that Dr Duncan loves to help people. He is a very friendly and attentive person. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Since my surgery 4-23-2003.
I have been able to stick by the instructions that was given to me.
I believe that the staff really wants me to live and be blessed with my new life. They emphasized that aftercare is very important and a must.
They encourage me to get into a support group. I look forward to joining the Wellness Center at Atlanta Medical Center.
I rate Dr Duncan and his staff a 10. Everything was great the competence, bedside manner, concern, care.
I haven't had the privilege of meeting him yet, but I must say that I am very impressed with the office staff. I received the information packet they mail out the NEXT day after calling them. They called me to make an appointment three days after I faxed it back to them.
I still haven't met with Dr. Duncan personally. At my first visit, I met with the screening doctor. She answered all of my questions and took my measurements. I was a little disappointed to not get to meet Dr. Duncan, but she explained that if he were to see everyone for this first visit it would take alot longer to get appointments. She put me at ease.
Dr. Duncan is a very busy man, however he took the time to visit me after surgery to make sure that I was feeling well. He had said that I would be seeing an associate after surgery. I felt totally safe with him doing the surgery.
