I am really impressed thus far, and all the good things that everyone else says about him and his staff seem true to me! I counsulted with Dr. Blackstone and Dr. Batay-Csorba, but Dr. S. is definitely "the one". Get his book if you haven't yet!!! I will be meeting with him for the second time next Tuesday, and I hope to schedule a date.
He is witty, charming, and sincere. He is also no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is, and his attention to patients and prospective patients is awesome. Great cyber communicator! His office staff is polite, responsive, and supportive. I'm a retired RN and I'm picky.
To date, I haven't yet found anything to dislike. I will report back after surgery.
He emphasizes personal responsibilty. If you're not ready to accept the alterations in life style necessary for success, think for awhile. He was very straight about risks, and what was necessary to succeed.
What I like best is a good surgeon who is a real person, honest and vulnerable like the rest of us. Anyone who cannot concede to being human, but feels it's OK to invade the parameters of my body and being is ruled out. Dr. Simpson can laugh at himself, the world, and has lots of experience. He doesn't seem hooked on "fixing" people; he's there to provide a tool to help me help myself. More later....
Dr. Simpson is great! My first impression was that he was up front and honest with a great sense of humor. He tells it like it is and with a little humor. I have met with him 2 times and my impression hasn't changed. His office staff so far have been very nice and helpful. Aftercare is huge to Dr. Simpson and his staff. He will let you even consider surgery if you won't enroll prior in the aftercare program. I loved that he requires EVERY patient to wear a special arm band that keeps track of the calories you burn in a day. Each day, you can go to your computer and put in what you ate and the computer interface in the band will tell you how many calories you took in and how many you burned so you can monitor your weightloss better. I would recommend Dr. Simpson to anyone considering any type of WLS.
Dr. Simpson was the third surgeon i saw. i think what impressed me the most besides his great personality is that he was/is most interested in what was/is best for me. before and after the surgery.
dr simpsons staff seems so far to be very easy to deal with. very very thorough in what they need and what they expect from me.
aftercare is very very important also with dr simpson and his staff. and they need, want and seem generally concerned about helping me change some bad habits and iniating better healthier habits.
dr simpson and his staff also have been spending alot of time with me talking about the mental process of the before and after surgery.
im staring to realize it doesnt matter how many people you talk to and how many you know that have had the same surgery or similar everyone is different. and it can/will effect everyone differently.
I attended Dr Simpson's seminar and was impressed. I had attended other seminars but this presentation was much better. After I had my first consoltation I knew I was going to have my surgery done by him. I like the low key soft spoken approach Dr Simpson has. He listened to and answered all of my questions. He was very good in his explanation of the pros and cons with the lap band. He also does the DS but I was not intered in that. I have since had my surgery and all went well. His staff is kind Dr. Simpson has an excellent after care program with nutritionist, excercise therapist, and monthly support group. Its all there to be used. The most important point is I can talk with him on the internete day or night and he responds to my questions right then. I truly do not have a negative thing so say about Dr. Simpson. I had interviewed two other Dr. for this surgery and he is the one I felt most comfortable with. I had already made up my mind I was going to have the surgery just wanted to get someone I could communicate with.
Dr. Simpson's seminar was informative, straight shooting and fun. His openess relieved my tension. His humor put me at ease and the information included the good, the bad and the ugly. I am impressed.
I have seen Dr. Simpson twice since then and I continue to be impressed and feel sure that WLS by Dr. Simpson is the right choice for me.
The office staff has been outstanding. They have provided the information I needed to assist them with the documentation that is needed for the insurance co. Debbie has answered my email questions promptly.
My first impression of Dr. Simpson was from reading the reports of his patients. Everyone of them had nothing but good things to say. I asked myself if this were actually possibly from any kind of Doctor. Through my limited experiences, I've found him to be like no other I've ever ran across before. He personally handles his own patients support group meetings along with his wonderful staff. They all give so very much of themselves. He is the most caring, patient involved, self giving surgion and has the most wonderfully warped sense of humor. I can't help but remember two things that I've heard him say, well maybe three. He says that he loves cats, especially with a little BBQ Sauce. Secondly, he lets all the WLS people know that they should NOT have sex for at least 17 years after surgery. Also, the most important danger for the WLS patient to understand is the threat of a jealous lover. He probably would'nt like me to say this, but he would very likely fit in well with us truck drivers. He's obviously a talented surgeon who hides nothing, always telling you all of the facts. He spends awesome amounts of time with all of his patients and also with several of the internet boards on the subject. Dr. Terry Simpson gets an A+ in my book. The jury is still out a little on this. I will definitely update this after my surgery, but my expectations of this are only on a positive note. Lastly, I will definitely work on trying to be a little more negative about him in the future. There must be a flaw somewhere.
Dr. Simpson is funny yet very professional. He explains the options and procedures of each and give you the choice although he will suggest which might be the best for you on an individual level. For, he suggests LapBand surgery.
His approach is, to be successfull, patients need to commit themselves to the weightloss plan from classes to surgery to support groups and follow up appointments. He points out that the surgery is a tool to change youur lifestyle and lose weight.
My first introduction to Dr. Simpson was through his website. I was very impressed by his dedication and interaction with his patients. I first met him at one of his seminars and I was impressed with his experience and knowledge on bariatric surgery. At my consult, he took the time to answer my remaining questions. My overall impression is that he is competant and tells it like it is, with a warped sense of humor. :)
The office staff has been very helpful and accessible. They are all quick to answer my e-mails.
