struck me as being very good - liked his personality very much. Dr. Simpson has been very empathetic and yet as been quick to give me a kick in the butt to get moving. Turned out i had an infection and still feel crappy, but Dr. Simpson saw me in his office yesterday (Sunday) and has called everyday, so i am very pleased. Because i am also in the medical field, Dr. Simpson pulled no punches. His staff is exceptional and they have a very structured aftercare program.

Too soon to rate, although i'm sure it will be most favorable.

I thought Dr.Simpson was very knowledgeable and experienced with weight loss procedures and truly wants to help people. He also has a wonderful sense of humor and uses it effectively in his conversations with patients and in his seminars.

Dr. Simpson seems really dedicated to weight loss and how it can change lives. He is down to earth easy to talk to.

My first impression from Dr. Simpson was great. I tend to hold to first impressions and he gave a great one. He is really laid back and personable. I went to his seminar and was impressed with his calm & cool demeaner. Not uptight and as reserved as most Dr.s and I liked that because this man is going to be in my life forever and I will really need a friendship in the process of all the professional stuff. He really empahsized the aftercare program, which I was really impressed with as well. He was carrying a pager, cell phone and text messanger palm pilot and showed us the interaction he consistantly has with his patients. He also has a live chat session once a week with patients too. Very impressive! Kathleen is really great as well, she is the program coordinator and is really nice. Poor woman had to answer my million questions via email during a weekend. "I haven't had surgery yet." And still, she was ready and willing to answer the things I wanted to know. I'll let you know more after I have surgery!

I called Dr. Simpson's office and attended a meeting to see about having WLS with Dr. Simpson. It was held in his office, there were about 8 people attending and he gave a very informative talk explaining the different surgeries, the dangers and answered any questions we could think of. I had already done all the research I could regarding Dr. Simpson and was confident he was a good surgeon. Dr. Simpson also has written a book regarding WLS and I found it very informative. I had Lap Band Surgery on 5/23/05 with Dr. Simpson. After reading his book, all I would think of after surgery was 'walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip'. So I walked and sipped. It's been two weeks since surgery and I haven't had any regrets.
One other thing that I read as a recurring theme with WLS patients preop are problems with the Surgeons office staff. Dr. Simpson's office staff is great. Kathleen his Bariactric Coordinator has had WLS herself and understands our concerns. She has answered any questions I had and promptly. She submitted my file to insurance before I expected, called to let me know it had been submitted, and then called to let me know the insurance company had given approval. So if anyone is looking for a Surgeon, I recommend Dr. Simpson, and also the Lap Band.

I had a great first impression of Dr. Simpson. He reminds me of a friend of my husband and mine so I took to him right away. One week post OP, I still like Doc Simpson. From start to finish, I had a great experience with Dr. Simpson and his office staff. I only dealt with Kathy C. and the Physical Therapist. They both were very nice and attentive.

Honestly I haven't been disappointed by anyone in my entire experience thus far. I am pretty critical considering I am in the healthcare business too. Overall, or in a nutshell, Dr. Simpson and his staff make you feel like you are the only patient at the time. They don't make you feel like a number or like they are in a hurry. The are generally concerned about your wellbeing. The risks of surgery were explained completely and the support group meetings and message boards help keep you connected and give you access to common questions and concerns. Go into the experience realistically though. Don't expect to hear everything you want to hear. This will take work on your part, the surgery is just a tool to help. Good Luck to anyone considering taking the plunge. Oh, get the book Dr. Simpson wrote. It has a lot of answers and adds humor to take the edge off.

I have nothing to say negative about the man. He really brightens the room. I am still pre-op, hopefully not for much longer. I am having the daily specialty, the biliopacreatic diversion with duodenal switch. He did try to talk me out of it at all, but did want me to know all of my options.

At first, I was a little put-off by his price above and beyond with the insurance company charges me. But then I learned that all of the Phoenix WLS surgeons do that.

Terry doesn't treat any of his patients like their stupid, and he acts like every questions is the first time he's heard it and is very genuine. I'd recommend him to anyone. I am sure my feelings po-op will only improve!

His staff is very nice, and all of the patients that attent his support group love him! That tells he's a great doctor. Last week, was standing-room-only for about 20 mins, there was so many people there.

My first impression - smart, calm, confident, humorous.

Over time - caring, serious, strict, professional.

Staff - excellent. Knowledgeable, helpful, professional.

Not much I didn't like. Didn't see him much after surgery, but could tell from nurses conversations he'd checked up on and was monitoring my recovery. Would like support group meetings a little more focused.

Strong emphasis on aftercare, and on strict adherance to guidelines to avoid complications.

Very candid about risks of surgery. Generally advocates lap-band over DS due to fewer risks, complications. On a scale of 1 to 10, would rate 9.5.

Surgical competence - great. Bedside manner - very good. Pre-op consult - very good.

When I first heard of Dr. Simpson I wrote him an Email was amazed that he took the time to answer, not even knowing me. After I met him I was just in awe He is such a down to earth person who really cares about his patients. He really seem to take an active role in his patients aftercare. I also love his staff they always have time for me and they return my calls right away. I am a very inquisitive person and can ask millions of questions and never has his staff made me feel as I was a nuisance or taking up there time. I also bought Dr. Simpson's new book "a lighter look at a heavy subject" and I love it his very informational for those of you researching everything online it is all in this book, I can't put it down. All this and I am still pre-op I'll let you know how much I still love him when I am post-op. Good Luck to all!
