Dr. Davis is a great surgeon and did a great job. His office staff is very professional -- they were very helpful in getting my insurance approval.
I am looking forward to my first support group meeting on 4/28. The meetings are held in Dr. Davis' office and nearby in the building.
What did I like least? These two comments are not so much complaints as things future patients should be aware of. When you're in the hospital, make the most of the time the docs are in your room, because you won't see them otherwise. These guys are busy!
Also -- don't think that your appointment time for an office visit is when you'll see the doc. They see all bariatric patients on Wednesday, including pre-ops. Given that both Dr. Davis's (father and son) are surgeons, there are times when neither are in the office, thus appointments get backed up.
When all is said and done, if I ever need surgery again, I will go to Dr. Davis...
At first visit to the doctor goes through a power point presentation about the surgery, risks, and benefits. They explain what your role is in the out come and their role. Then everyone see the surgeon so they can ask any questions they might have. I didn't have many questions. So I didn't spend much time with him. He seemed very personable. Most of the profiles I have read talk about how no nosense their doctors are. How they try to scare them into doing other things. Dr. Davis didn't. I had been researching the procedure for almost a year. So I didn't spend much time with him. Several people had recommended him. So once the insurance work is done I should see more of him. I'll keep you updated about my oppinion, once I have one.
My first impression of Dr. Davis was that he had nice hands. I always look at a surgeon's hands. He is an older guy with white hair and a slight accent. He has a nice sense of humor and a warm smile.
I have had minimal contact with his office staff and all meetings have been fine. I would like anyone considering surgery to attend his seminar (on Wed's) as it helped me to choose him as my surgeon. He and his son share a practice and are planning on opening a bariatric center with support groups, a nutritionist, physco-help, gym, restaraunt, clothing excahnge etc. He now has monthly meetings that include speakers on various topics.
I was addressed about the risks of surgery through his presentation and through his booklet. I also knew the risks because I have done a lot of research on my own. I have had 3 moments with him to ask questions one on one and one time with a group. I would rate Dr. Davis with an 8. After surgery I will rate him again.
I feel he had surgical competence and a great bedside manner, both of which are very important to me.
O.K. I have survived the approval process, surgery, recovery, and now I'm a loser. I think that Dr. Davis is AWESOME!! He is very down to earth and does not have the normal "I.m a Dr. and I am god" complex. He is very caring and knowledgeable. I would strongly reccomend him to anyone. I believe the key is finding the right surgeon for the patient. Interview, Interview and then interview some more. This is a life changing decison!!

Well Joan did help me with my appeal. I am glad that she did because I know I couldn't have done it on my own. I just didn't have the resources. However, I have not heard a peep from their office since. I guess that they have given up on me. I will not give up though. I will continue to fight the good fight of faith.

I love his disposition and he believes that I won't even need corrective surgery when I am done. yeppie!!!! He has a very informed staff that is more than helpful. I look forward to taking this journey with him. He set a lot of my fears to rest.

I haven't met Dr. Davis yet. I just wanted to let everyone know that the ladies in the office are just wonderful. They made me feel as though they were giving me there full attention and were very informative.
I had my intial consult with Dr. Davis on February 4th and also met his son Garth at this time. I was extremely impressed by their professionalism and knowledge of Bariatric surgery. I feel totally at ease with them handling my surgery. I appreciate their business-like attitude, yet they were very compassionate as well to my thoughts and feelings and questions.
I met with both Drs. Davis (Father/Son Robert/Garth) on 1/28 at my initial consultation. They were both very personable and patient as they you take you through a little presentation that pretty much explains everything. Dr. Garth (very cute!) went through everything, made time for questions and then Joan, the office manager, came in and gave tips on how to improve your chances with insurance approval. Then you are called back by the doctors themselves to discuss the surgery one on one. I was real impressed with their friendly atmosphere...it wasn't a traditional setting where you see mostly the office assistants then the doctor comes in to examine. The doctors were who you saw most during the whole appointment. I was very impressed and came away with a positive feeling. I'm looking forward to surgery and the bright future that follows.
7-26-03 Dr. Robert Davis made a really good first impression. I am totally confident with him. He is deputy cheif of surgery at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tx. He has re-done between 50-60 surgeries of Dr. Molina's. That was the bad news. I felt like a fool, being "snookered" by Dr. Molina, but am looking forward to the future. Throughout all the tests I have had done over the past 2 weeks, all of the doctors have told me (without me asking) that I have chosen a VERY good surgeon. He does emphasize aftercare, and discussed in details the risks involved. The only thing I hate is that so far he doesn't have a support group, but I understand that he is in the process of establishing one. His office staff are all very nice, Joan, the office manager and insurance person is VERY busy. You can't normally get her during the day, but if you call and leave her a message, she has always called me back - usually around 6:00. She must work really long hours. She was a great help in helping to get me approved. Very professional.
10-11-03 - I cannot say enough good about Dr. Davis and his son. They have given me the very best care anyone could recieve. They were compassionate, kind, answered any questions my husband and I had, were very concerned that I was comfortable, I could go on and on. If you truly want a competent team of surgeons - these are your men. And Methodist Diagnostic - it's the greatest. I stayed on the 11th floor - which specializes in bariatrics, and all of the nurses were great. Very helpful, very compassionate. The only thing I could even remotely complain about is hospitals are loud and I didn't get over 1-2 hours sleep the whole time I was there. But it's a trade-off. They took excellent care of me.
Met with Dr. Davis on August 7. He is very personable and puts you at ease right away. I am very thankful to Dr. Davis and Joan for helping me when I needed help. I was scheduled with Dr. Glorsky on August 11 for surgery but evidently his staff did not put me on the schedule and iull. They changed to me to Sept. 8 but insurance was changing and did not know if surgery would be covered. Joan really helped me out by helping me get into Dr. Davis in time for my surgery to be covered 100%.
