I was not pleased to sit in the waiting, or should I say weighting room for over two hours. Dr. Robert Davis and son were getting onto the elevator as I was going up. So he wasn't even in the office right before my appointment?? rnWhen I spoke to Dr. Robert Davis himself I first noted his attitude. He is brief when he speaking making witty comments here and there. However, he did answer the great deal of questions I had. I'm not sure if I detected a hint of sarcasm. Though, he did invite me to call him back if I had anymore questions.rnMy father picked up that he seems to be \"all about the money\". rnHis office staff is fairly friendly with the exception of Tamika who is also brief when speaking. Tamika is nothing shy of rude. His medical assistant being the most friendly and personable. rnI chose him for surgical competence if nothing else.
Dr. Robert Davis's ( Methodist Hospital in Houston) seminar was the third I have attended. I was searching for more facts and a balanced presentation. Dr. Davis presented very informative medical information through research findings, patients' experiences, and his own observations. I understood in a more profound way the seriousness, expectations, and hopefulness of bariatric surgery. rnrnI have just begun my six months of nutritional education required by the insurance company before surgery. The staff @ Methodist have been very professional and I feel that they really care about the patients. Education of the process and aftercare are stressed for the patient to be successful.rnrnDr. Robert Davis is direct, caring, and pleasantly witty.
my fist impression of dr davis was verry good i liked him. since the first time i saw him. he is a very caring person and funy too.rnhe knows what he is doing, and made me feel more confortable and secure about the decition of having my surgery. he make sure that i have all the phones for contacting him in an emergency.rnso far dr davis is a 10. rnthe only thing agains him is that he has a very busy practice.
He was an absolutely amazing surgeon, and quite a comedian! If you watch Discovery Health's Big Medicine then you will understand exactly what he is like. He has a great beside manner and Dr. R. Davis has a great pre-op and aftercare program! He can be a bit scatter brained at times, and he's not very thorough in his pre-op visits but his staff makes up for it. Still, I would highly recommend Dr. Robert Davis to anyone contemplating either lap band or gastric bypass surgery.
About my surgeon....rnMy first impression was \"this guy really cares.\"rnI have had no change in impression of my surgeon - he is very friendly and caring. What I liked best is that he is easy to talk to, listens to you and explains things well. rnrnHis office staff is helpful, busy, but helpful. I have no \"least likes\" about him, but I haven't had surgery yet either (haha). That said, I still think he's great. rnrnHe has performed thousands of procedures, is a skilled surgeon and makes you feel that he genuinely cares about his patients. I liked how he comes to the waiting room to get you -mades me feel like I was a real priority to him. rnrnFor him, aftercare is VERY important - patients have to be committed. He was very clear about the surgery and its risks. He walked me through everything. rnrnMy overall rating of him is a 9.5 (we all have room for improvement, I just don't know what needs to be improved at this point)! rnrnMy highest priority in selecting my surgeon was surgical competence, but I like tihs to be balanced with a good bedside manner. He is also featured on Big Medicine with his son Garth Davis - watching him on TV helped me realize he's the one for me!
June 12, 2008rnI attended Dr Davis' seminar on June 4th. The staff is wonderful and informative. Dr Davis is high recommended by my PCP Dr Wolf, whom I trust. I have been in denial about the lap band not working for so long. I actually heard all of the things I have been going through, Pbling, slimming, vomiting, and that there was a real solution. Dr Davis is so informative and he presented the information in terms that were plain and to the point. I have an appointment on July 14th. Bummer that I have to wait so long but i know it will be worth it.
Dr. Robert Davis and his staff is great! They work with my insurance which is Medicare and they have a whole Weight Management Program and Team at The Methodist Hospital and University General Hospital which includes a nutritionist, psychologist etc. There is an aftercare program and support groups available to all patients which they strongly encourage. Of course there are risks like with any other surgery, You just have to make sure the benefits outweigh the risks. Great bedside manner. I had a minor problem after surgery and Dr. Davis was very concerned, attentive and comforting. He takes the time to listen to what the patient is saying or asking and explains everything in detail. He does not rush you in and out like some doctors do. He does not try to \"talk\" you into one procedure or another. He just gives the facts and tells you in his expert opinion which procedure he feels is best for you if any. I believe the majority of their practice is devoted to bariatric surgery but Dr. Davis does many other surgical procedures. If you are looking for an experienced surgeon with an excellent reputation go see Dr. Robert Davis in Houston, Texas!!! Also, watch him on TLC (The Learning Channel) to see Dr. Robert Davis and his son Dr. Garth Davis (in practice together) on their own show called \"Big Medicine\"!
Dr. Davis is not only a brilliant surgeon, but he is a kind and funny man. He really does care about his patients. He is very strict about following the diet both pre-op and post-op. He completely outlined the risks of surgery and was more than willing to address my questions and concerns. He, and his incredible staff, made the entire process extremely easy. I am so glad I chose Dr. Robert Davis as my surgeon. I recommend him highly to anyone seeking bariatric surgery.
As I said in my story I chose Dr Robert Davis because he is from South Africa...rnAfter all my tests etc I finally got to meet him.He is a great guy.Reminds me of my Dad.rnVery strict and says what he needs to say but you can see there is a soft, caring heart inside there. I prefer someone to be direct with me & give me his opinions etc which I found American doctors very hesitant to do for obvious reasons. He still did say the final choice was with me though.Even his staff has a genuine concern to make this journey easier for you.rn
