Dr. Baker was a wondreful doctor/surgeon.He's very understanding yet helpful with my needs. I had full confidence in my choice and would recommend him to anyone. The staff was nice and polite. Fast on their feet. There was nothing that I didn't like about him. He's great!! He's a man that comes right out with it. No sugar coating the facts. He stresses the aftercare alot, cuz its the most important process. He also told me straight forward the risks and comps of the surgery, but thats wiht any surgery you have so, I wasn't scared. I rated Dr. Randall Baker A+ all the way. He is great at all he does both ways, All ways. He helped change my life for the better!!!!!
Dr. Baker seems to have it all - intelligence, high levels of competence, a sense of "mission", plus a very easy going personality. Its clear that he is always striving to find ways to refine the techniques he and his team use to achieve the greatest success. The program he has developed at MMPC's Center for Health Excellence is mult-disciplinary, well structured and with top-notch specialists. I am in good hands.
I just met Dr. Baker yesterday and I was very impressed with him. He seemed very caring and competent. Since I have changed doctors and decided to have the RNY instead of the MGB it was very important for me to feel comfortable about the procedure. He took the time to answer all of my questions and I did not feel rushed.
My first impression of Dr.Baker was that he was very nice and super intelligent. I could tell he knows exactly what he is doing and that he doesnt leave anything to chance. I felt very secure that he and his staff are very thorough.
He talked about follow-up appointments that were needed. I felt like his office was concerned about me and my weight loss.
Dr. Baker is one of the founders of the clinic called MMPC Center for Health Excellence. He does primarily laproscopic surgery unless there are reasons not to. Surgeons come from all over to learn from him. His surgeries are just as short as open ones as he has perfected this operation. He is a great guy who takes his time with you to make sure you understand everything. His staff is very good, and scheduling is pretty good, too. He has a therapist and dieticians on staff that you see on a regular basis. It took about 4 months from the initial consultation until surgery. Dr. Baker requires a two week liquid fast before surgery. I believe this especially helped me because when I was finally able to eat - a month later, I was pretty much over my eating issues, and I didn't suffer depression or withdrawel - even though my initial fast was over Christmas and New Years! Dr. Baker is the best, but he also has other doctors that work with him that are very good as well.
Need to meet with hm now that BTC is no longer taking Blue Cross Blue Shield. They are all great and very helpful. If I had any questions they answered.6/2/2003 I meet with Dr. baker today and he was very nice took the time to explain about the surgery and different procedures and since very concerned that I know everything and am in the best of conditions
I met with Dr. Randal Baker in Grand Rapids, Mi. on April 14,2003. He is a very friendly man and put my husband and myself at ease over my impending surgery even though I am subject hereditaryly to embolisms having one just the week before. His office staff seems to be very friendly and efficient. I liked his easy manner and the way he kept asking if I had any other concerns about surgery. He explained all we would do to prevent blood clots before and after the operation. So far I do not know about the aftercare but have been told by other patients that it is very structured. He addressed all the risks of surgery but also mentioned I will have the same risks with any other surgery and I know that I will have to have some in the future. To date I rate him great but will have to see after surgery. It is better to have surgical competence but I think with Dr. Randal BakerI will also have a doctor with a good bedside manner. These were my personal impressions of my own experience. It might not be the same for another person.
May 24th- I am now post -op. Dr. Baker and his staff brought me through with no trouble. I was in Tuesday and out Thursday. I have very little pain and only five little incisions. I call it a miracle what a good doctor can do. I was very, very happy with him. I rate him a ten. He and his staff came in before surgery and all seemed very caring. My husband was worried because of my bloodclot history but one menber of the staff told him he would take care of me like his own mother. I just can't find any negative things to say.
I have my appt. to meet Dr.Baker in early Feb. I have had my appt. with Dr. VanDyken. He was very nice and agreed the surgery would be good for me to have.
2/10 - I met with Dr. Baker for the first time today. He was nice and patiently answered my questions. He was very confident which made me feel I made a good choice for lap RNY.
5/12-Post OP - Dr.Baker was very good in the hospital - I saw him each day and I saw Todd the P.A. one or two times a day which was very reasurring.
