I really liked Dr. Baker from the first moment I met him. He made me feel so comfortable. I loved how the exam room was set up. It was able to accomidate people larger then I was and for the first time in my life i felt small. It was great. He was a very nice person and gave me lots of encouragement.
I met with Dr. Baker on Nov.5. I was very impressed with his sense of humor. He explained everything in detail.Dr. Baker was very thorough explaining what I should expect during and after surgery and the risks and precautions he will be taking because I have sleep apnea and asthma. I also met with the coordinator about what to expect at the hospital and my pre-op.I also met with the dietition. She went over all my diet and also my supplements MMPC requires.MMPC has a very structured program for before & after WLS.The office staff is very accommadating working with me to group my appointments together being I live 3 hours away. I so far have no complaints and I would recommend them to anyone thinking of WLS.I am just waiting now for my surgery date.1/3/02 After lost paperwork with B/CB/S which I got taken care of I am still waiting for MMPC to call with a date .Maybe the office staff is not as prompt as I originally thought!I have a date ! Surgery will be on 2-13-02. Changed my surgery date to 1/30/02 much better!
I highly recomend Doctor Baker. He is a caring person that was very sincere and concerned about me and my future. HIs office staff was very friendly and helpful. And also has personal experince with the surgery.
The big emphasis with after was to get your excersize and no high calorie drinks. MMPC has a very good aftercare program. Even after all the risks I feel very confident in Dr. Bakers skill. Dr. Bakers bedside manner and skill are both great. Dr. Baker took pictures of my surgery in progress. If anyone is interested let me know. I will email them out.
1. Very good, Very professional, is a young Doctor, but referred with high regard.
2. No not really
3. The staff is not his full-time. He has his own practice, but visits this weight management center a couple times a week. The staff here at the weight management center is new and needs some comunication skills.
4. The least thing was that he stated what he needed to say and seemed quick to want to end the conversation. Other than that I liked him
5. Make sure you ask your questions.
6. The weight management group stresses alot of aftercare treatment.
7. A very structured aftercare process
8. In a orientation seminar.
9. Out of 10 I would rate him a 9
10. I would say both
I have my first meeting with Dr. Baker on 8/27/01. I'll update more then!
8/29/01 - - - - - - - Met with Dr. Baker on Monday afternoon. I was very impressed and pleased. I had a list of 27 questions and he answered each one in clear, to-the-point detail. I could be in surgery as soon as the end of September! My only complaint so far is the billing department. I was doubled billed for my first visit which is supposedly being handled.
My insurance ok-ed me to have Dr. Baker for surgery, I had seen Dr. Scholten in the past. I wasn't to happy at first about the change of the surgeons I had been very happy w/Scholten and his office staff. But after I met Dr. Baker I was put at ease w/Baker and I'm now very happy w/Baker as a surgeon. I think he will put the patients health first. He was very pleasent to talk to and was ready to answer any questions that I had. His staff is very eager to please and he has a structured program for his patients before and after surgery. You do have to pay for this service that is called the Encore Program this cost ($500.00) which must be paid for up front before surgery. You also have to use their pre-op supplement and post-op supplement and pay up front before they will schedule you for surgery.
08-28-01 My first impression of Dr. Baker was very good. He was warm and caring but very professional and seemed confident in what he needed to do. He answered all my questions plus he asked some of his own. He did not appear to be in a hurry but willing to sit down and talk. Personally I have had no trouble with the office staff. I have even attended one of the bariatric support group meetings (the only preop there) and I was so encouraged by the behaviorist and the other post-ops. What an encouragement they were to each other. The aftercare at that office is extensive and followed closely. The hospital just gave him more block time to do surgeries so he felt confident he could get me in within the next couple of weeks since my approval process was done. So far I would highly recommend him at this stage. Even while waiting in the waiting room, all those there to see him just loved him and had no complaints. feel free to email me anytime at [email protected]
