I would like to thank Dr. Hornbostel for being such a caring and compasonate person. I was very impressed with him when i went to his seminar. He is a very straight forward person and i appreciate that. Everyone in his office is so caring and I would like to thank Dena and Marge. If anyone is considering this surgery I highly recommend Dr. Hornbostel.

My first impression of Dr. Hornbostel was that he was a people person. That assessment has not changed. He really is very accessable and down to earth. At the same time he seems very knowledgable. I feel confident in his ability to perform my surgery.

The first time I met Dr. Hornbostel, I was impressed with his manner and confidence. He seems to genuinely care for his patients. I was originally scheduled to have surgery on 05-09-05, but didn't pass my cardiac stress test. I had another test in November '05 and passed it to my cardiologists satisfaction. Seems that I'm doing better than I have in quite some time. On 08-23-06, I saw Dr. Hornbostel for the 2nd time and am still confident that I've made the right choice to have him do my surgery. I have many co-morbidites and we've addressed each one. He says there isn't any one of them that would stand in the way of a successful surgery...as long as my cardiologist approves! I still have Medicare and the good doc says that since Bothwell Regional Hospital is already approved by Medicare as a \"center of excellence\", there should be no problem in obtaining the approval. (they approved me last year in just a few days) I've followed comments about Dr. Hornbostel for more than 2 years now and believe that he is one of, if not the most qualified bariatric surgeon in the state of Missouri. Must be...patients are coming to see him from the 8 state region! His credentials are superb. His office staff is on the ball, too. Especially Dena! Too bad she doesn't have a medical degree :). I told Dr. Hornbostel that I'm ready, so ready to get on to better health and take my life back! I just know in my heart that the \"man upstairs\" has led me to this point in my life as well as this surgeon. His office is about 1 1/2 hours from my home (KCMO region), but the drive is well worth it. When you meet with Dr. H, he gives you a binder with all of the info you'll need to prepare yourself for the surgery. It's full of detailed info about the procedure, the benefits -vs- risks, nutritional info, specific diets that he wants you to follow and when, along with a message about following his program without wavering, So you see, how could you go wrong? His manner in the office puts each patient at ease, so I'm quite sure his bedside manner (at the hospital) will be just as great. So in the words of my 11yr old daughter, \"the man's got it goin' on!\".rnAt this time, I coudn't find anything negative to say.

My first impression of Dr. Hornbostel was a man that knows his stuff. He is intellegent , and funny and is a busy man. He will take time to answer all your questions and doesnt act like anyof them are silly .But you better have them written down and have them ready for him because he is very busy . His Staff is the best , Marge and Dena what can you say but the best. I dont know the rest of the girls by name but all seem to be very charming and caring. rnHe has a good structured aftercare program. and stresses it a lot. Stated that the monthly meetings are needed for good support and to help keep you on track. They have a life long tracking system that keeps records of how you are doing. rnI rate him as one of the best surgeons i have ever known. His surgical competence is top drawer. He is so busy that he cant seem to stay too long but i accept that as how much he does.

I attended the informational seminar held August 1, 2006. I arrived a few minutes late and the room was packed. rnrnAs I sat down and started listening to Dr. Hornbostel my first impression was that he was energetic and humerous. As he began to explain the types of surgery he was very detailed and used contrast and comparison to give you information about both the Gastric Band and the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. He was patient with all the questions that were asked during his presentation and he stayed after to give everyone a chance to ask questions.

I saw Dr. Hornbostel for the first time at his information meeting that is manditory in order to get an appointment with him and I was very impressed with how informative he was. He had one of his nurses who works with the insurance with him her name is Dena. i have to say she is great as well. She has been pulling for me and hel;ping me in anyway to get the paperwork that I need turned in for my insurance. I have since the meeting gone and had a consultation where Dr. Hornbostel answered any questions for me. He was very polite and understanding of my situation. The nurses where all very nice and I got to meet with Dena again where she was so supportive and helped me get a list together of the things I need my insurance has a lot of requierments. I was then given a binder of a lot of useful information about what to expect before and after surgery how to prepare myself for surgery and just tons of information. I am looking forward to being approved for this surgery by my insurance so I can begin my process to becoming a healthy person.

I think Dr. Hornbostel is a wonderful man. He really seems to care about people. He takes the time to talk to you so you can understand what he is saying. He does not try and talk over your head or make you feel stupid like so many doctors do. Everyone at his office is really nice and caring. He makes sure you know that your surgery is a tool and that you have to work with it and him for it to work. I think Dr. Hornbostel is great and would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about having WLS.
