Dr. Hornbostel's approach is very comfortable and professional. He was extremely informitive on all 3 surgeries, risks and aftercare, which was helpful in my final decision. Looking forward to him doing my surgery. I have alot of confidence in him. Will update after my surgery.rnrnIf driving a little further to lock in a credible Dr. and team, then going to Dr. Hornbostel would be the one I strongly suggest. Yes, there are great Dr.s out there who are competent. But I also had the choice of transferring to a Dr. in my home town after I had started the process with this one. My sister and I both chose to stay with him. I believe that is what you call a terrific testimony! My sister and I had surgery the same day with Dr. Hornbostel and will never regret it. Aftercare is emphasized and you really need to understand this is a \"Tool\". No matter what your struggles, have confidence in your self and your Doctor and you will make it. Definately a 10! Bedside manner is so important in your healing process. He's got it all. Good luck to all who chose this life. rnrn After seeing him post op, Dr. H. greets you with the most enthusiastic smile and genuine happiness for his patients success. The only regret I have is that we don't live in Sedalia so he could be my primary physician. I would change Dr.'s in a heart beat. rnrnThanks Dr. H. and team for making this experience a great start to a new life! rnrnCharlotte
Dr. Hornbostel has got to be one of the most personal people I have ever met. He agreed to answer every question no matter how long he had to stay at the seminar, which is a far different experience from all the other physicians I dealt with. His office is so unbelievably helpful! I have been given all their phone #'s including office, hospital, his cell # and his wifes cell # (his wife is a RN and fantastic also). ANY question I have I can email or call and get an immediate answer and that is a great feeling after having come through surgery. He is very specific and detailed about what exactly to do coming up to surgery and taking care of yourself after surgery, very detailed. Very structured, Step by Step, no doubts. He was very clear about all the risks involved with the surgery but also how important it is to increase your longevity. I just simply must say I truly believe God lead me to Dr. Hornbostel for a reason, he is a fantastic person is genuinely believes in what he is doing and is doing it because he truly cares about each and every single one of his patients. He and his staff are my personal angels!! I recommend them with the HIGHEST of recommendations....without one single question. He is the one!
My first impression of Dr Hornbostel is that he knows his stuff.rn My husband and I felt very comfortable after attending his seminar.rnHis Nurse Dena was very informative and helpful also.rnThey both went over the surgeries and the risks of surgery and answered questions from people attending the seminar.rnI now have a consult date on Jan 24th 2007 and I am very excited about this. rn
Dr. H is a super great person and surgeon. I liked him the first time I met him at the seminar on gastric bypass surgery. He is very compassionate and seems to really care about his patients. Truthfully, I can't think of a thing that I dislike about Dr. H. If you have a problem, he is very willing to listen and then give you the answer--whether you like it or not. He doesn't beat around the bush and hem-hah around. He is honest and upfront with you all the way. His aftercare is great. He'll give you a pat on the back and tell you how great you're doing. His staff are just as great as he is. They are willing to help you in any way they can and never seem to get upset with you. He has a great bedside manner and his surgical competence is truly top notch. I would highly recommend Dr. H to anyone for surgery!! Great job, Dr. H.!!!!!!! You'll notice I didn't have anything negative to say--that's because I didn't have any kind of negative experience with Dr. H. I haven't had anything negative happen to me at all from this surgery. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe I found the best doctor to do my surgery!
I went to Dr. Hornbostel's April 5, 2006 seminar and my first impression of him was \"this man knows what he is doing\", he was so thorough in his presentation about the surgery, the risk involved, complications that might or could occur, and he explained the benefits etc. and won not only my vote of confidence but that also of my husband and son-in-law (and that's to say a lot). After my consult visit with him one on one he answered all my questions and told me what procedure he was going to do (LAP RNY) and my confidence level in him increased.rnrnHis office staff are incredible, everyone seems to have patient care as priority #1. Dena and Marge are absolutely fantastic nurses and on their J-O-B-'s. I can't say that there is anything I like least about Dr. H. because he is professional all the way, but his compassion shows greatly. There is a plaque on the wall in his office that says \"The Best Doctors in America\" and future patients need to know that it is the truth. Yes there is a very structured aftercare program and it is stressed how important it is to do follow up visits and Dr. H. explained fully the risk of the surgery I believe no stone was left unturned. I can truthfully rate Dr. Hornbostel a 10+. rnI feel that both surgical competence and manner are great and Dr. H. has both.
Tomorrow I will finally have my 1st appointment with Dr Hornb. I've waited since September 7th for this appointment - I'm so excited and so Scared. I know I shouldn't but I'm playing the What if - game in my head, What if my insurance won't let me have the surgery? What if I have to gain another 200 lbs before they will let me have this surgery? I'd die I couldn't gain any more weight it hurts so much to be in my body right now... I will cry if Humana won't let me have this surgery. I'm afraid I'll get hysterical truly Hysterical I want this so bad... I need it so I'm not in so much pain with my back. I'm just so afraid. I suffer chronic pain from breaking my back in 3 places. I've had my back fused twice the last time was this past January. But I have so much stenosis my back is literally crumbling around the titanium bars - the screws they put in are backing out. The pain is undescribable and nonstop 24/7. I need this surgery so I don't have as much weight on top of my spine. It's very hard for me to exercise or walk because of the pain. This is my last hope - my only hope at this point in my life. My faith has kept telling me not to give up and I do believe God will take care of me.
My first impression of Phillip Hornbostel was complete confidence. My impression has only grown upward and forward. The staff in his office is always ready to lend a hand (or an ear). The only thing I didn't like was that I lived two hours away and couldn't see him as often as I would have liked. Future patients should know that they have a fine Christian man working on them. Overall I would recommend him to anyone!
I just had my first consult with Dr. Hornbostel. All I can say is....he is wonderful!! He answered all of my questions and my hubby's too. How refreshing, a Dr. that actually listens to his patients! I knew he was a very knowledgable and capable surgeon from the seminar I went to, but he also is just a nice man. His staff was really nice also...they took the time to just talk! So far, so good! I hope that everyone has as much luck with their surgeon as I have had with mine so far.
