Phillip Hornbostel Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I found Dr Hornbostel to be very very knowledgable and professional. I feel we (the patients) in sedalia -surrounding areas are extremly lucky to have him. I would of liked to of had a little more \"face time\" with him prior to surgery, but that would not prevent me from going to him again , I think he is just very busy. He and his staff do absolutly everything they can to give you all the info. and support you need, even giving you home numbers to call, they are just simply the best care givers you could ask for.

Wow is the word for Dr.Hornbostel he is so kind and understanding and answers all your questions and takes his time with you! You what he tells you and you will be succesful in your wls. His staff is nice especially Marggie. There is always risk in surgery and a chance of death but any doctor or hospitol will tell you that. As for rating Dr.Hornbostel and his staff would be a 9 because no is perfect! Both bedside and surgical competence were great .

Dr. Hornbostel is amazing, he is very detail oriented and has an open door policy. He gives you his personal cell in case you have any issues after office hours and never makes you feel like you have a stupid question.rnMost of his office staff is wonderful, Ask for Margie, she is his right hand and his wife.rnThe only disapointment I had was, I had a gallstone before the surgery and he does not remove the gallbladder with the RNY. rnSo that is another surgery I have to look forward to. He just prefers to stay on the side of caution and do one procedure at a time.

When i first saw him i thought he had quite a personality...crazy clothes that didn't match and he looked very comfortable in them. He is extremely intelligent and doesn't beat around the bush. He listens to concerns and answers questions thoughtfully. His entire program is outlined in a binder that you receive at your first visit and during preop assessment it is reviewed thoroughly. He wants his patients to succeed and it shows. The nurses at his office are very knowlegeable and very accessible. He is also very accessible. He gives his home and cell numbers on discharge paperwork!!! How great is that? I haven't had to use them but it is peace of mind knowing he cares that much. He responded right away when i was having pain my second post op night and saw me the next day with smiles. His spirit and enthusiasm for my success are very encouraging. Overall...I give him a 10.

Went for the first office visit with Dr. Hornbostel. He was very professional and his staff was great. He seems very knowledgable in his field. He is very foused on after care and its importance. He has a specific program set up for pre and post op care. He explained all the risks and benefits of surgery. He was very competent and pleasant.

My first impression was he knew what he was doing and was experinced in this field. So far my impression of him has not changed. His office staff has been helpful but always seem busy. I don't always feel comfortable calling if I have question because of that. I can't really think of any reason to dislike anything about Dr. Hornboste. He is very strict about his after care and have everything you needed to know about the surgery before and after in binder to take home. He listed the risks of surgery and also talked about them in his seminar. I would rate him a 9 only because no one is perfect. I think that a surgeon needs competence and beside manner to complete the package if one things is missing then I wouldn't want to have surgery with that Doctor.

Dr. Hornbostel seemed to be very knowlegable in his field. I learned alot from his seminar.He is a very pleasent person. Very concerned about your needs.I have had a few problems with his office staff but nothing that didn't get worked out.They have a very strict aftercare that enforce very strongly that you stick to.They expect to continue your care up to five years after surgery. Over all I was very pleased with him and the hospital he is associated with. Am very glad I found him to do my surgery ,always felt like I was in good hands.

I REALTY LIKE HIM LIKE THE FACT OF HIS KNOLEDGE OF WHAT HIS WAS DOING THE AMOUNT OF TIME HE SPENT WITH ME. THE DETALES OF THE PROSSEESED OF THE SURGERY. EVERY THEING ABOUT HIM, HIS STAFF I COULD NOT OF ASK FOR A BETTER BUNCH OF PEOPLE IF I HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN I WOULD GO TO HIM AGAIN.

Dr. Hornbostel was very informative about the operation. He took his time in explaining the proceedure as well as answering all my questions. The office staff was very polite and willing to help. They were very sensitive to my needs as an obese patient. I look forward to my surgery and I am very confident in my desicion to have Dr. Hornbostel as my surgeon.

My first impression of Dr. H was that he is a man who is very up front and tells you the truth. He doesn't hold anything back. Which I like alot. he and his staff care alot about their pts. and their well being.
