I liked Dr. Hornbostel and felt very at ease with him and he would listen to what ever you needed to talk to him and did not rush you like some doctors. He goes into great detail with the risk and the gains of the surgery and he and his staff stress to you to follow the directions on what you are told to do by the Dr. His staff has been very helpful and very nice. I would rate them and the doctor at a 9 on a basis of 1 to 10.

I like Dr. Hornbostel and he seems to care about his patients. He has great bed side manners and he really follows through on any problems or concerns you may have. I am completely satisfied with my choice of surgeon. I do wish one of his nurses had a little more tact in the way she speaks to patients, in my case it was a very embarassing message on my machine 4 days before my surgery. That EVERYONE heard!! (I have made it a point to avoid this woman so I would refrain from telling her what I think of her!) This in NO WAY changes my opinion of Dr. H. Bothwell Hospital was great! The nurses were better than I EVER anticipated and I am completely happy with my care after surgery. The nurses that get you ready for surgery are ANGELS! (especially one by the name of Connie Kiburz) They make you feel "safe". For anyone thinking of choosing this DR. or this hospital...You won't go wrong!!

Very impressed from the initial seminar. Still impressed at the first office visit. Still impressed at the hospital. He was straight forward and informative. He tells you like it is about the surgery and the importance of aftercare. he told all major potential problems and the course of action to prevent them. I am 5 days post op and so far I would rate Him over all, including competence and bedside manner, very high--- to exellent. I have not had much experience with surgeons, but my expectations could not be much higher.

I first met Dr.Hornbostel at the seminar, he was very informative and sensitive. It was really refreshing for the surgeon to be the teacher of the procedure they are doing. He was more than willing to talk with all the people that attended. My husband had a few question for him after the seminar and they were answered honestly, which really impressed my husband. My initial office visit went well, he explained each detail of the surgery to me and my husband and the after care that would be happening and answered all our questions. Dr.Hornbostel seemed very compassionate and empathic of my particular health needs and from the many people I've spoken with about him I have found that my impressions were the same as others. That he is a skilled and knowledgable surgeon. He and I already knew that my surgery would be a little more complicated considering my heart problems and we spoke of that. My cardiologist told me that Dr.Hornbostel called him to discuss my health history and what he thought my needs would be while in the hospital. I was very impressed with the fact that he did take the time to find out as much about his patients as he could before the surgery so he is more than prepared for any problems that might arise. I know now that I'll have to spend a couple of days in ICU, maybe be on the ventilator a little longer than most because of the severity of my heart problems and since I don't like surprises this information is valuable to my mental preparation for the surgery.

I had my consult w/him yesterday 1/14. The office was nice it had a big salt water tank in the center of the waiting room. The office staff was nice enough. Didn't have to wait very long in the waiting room, maybe 25 min. The nurse weighed me,I liked their scales better then mine I weighed 279 & on mine I'm about 303. I had my blood pressure taken. It was a little high probably cuz I was nervous, she asked me a few questions about my medical history. Then we waited for the Dr. (my two girls were with me) Dr. Hornbostel went over everything, from how 1st they have to submit everything to insurance all the way to 3 years post op. It all went a little to fast for me, but I pretty much knew what he was talking about since I've been reading up on this. I've been researching doctors for a while & he is definatly the most qualified. I feel very comfortable in his care.

I realize that Dr. Hornbostel practices weight loss surgery for a living, but I felt that he truly believes in what he doing and that he enjoys that he is helping people. For the first time ever, I felt like my condition was not my fault. His explanation of presurgery, surgery, post surgery and years to follow was very thorough. My husband and I asked questions and he answered until we had no more. He seems to be a geniune caring person. I was definitely put at ease with his manner. It is absolutely important for one's Dr. to be a great surgeon as well as have a great bedside manner. I think they go hand in hand in one's recovery.
Looking forward to my surgery and will update on Dr. Hornbostel after.

Dr. Hornbostel has maintained his ability to listen to me on my office visits and offer suggestions to problems i have had. very satisified with him and his work.

From the first meeting with Dr. H, I absolutely felt like I had a great surgeon. I felt as though I had finally found a doc who understood my weight issues and wasn't telling me "Have you ever heard of diet and exercise?" His staff is great also. They all worked with me so hard to get my paperwork through. My husband had to come from Iraq to be with me during my surgery, and Dr. H and his staff got his leave approved and even extended so he could stay with me for the immeadiate healing process. I would recommend him to anyone in this area. He was great in his office and in the hospital. I really like Ds. H and think everyone should be lucky as to have the experience I've had.

He is very kind and supportive, he also listens to you and explains all things to you, he actually talks to you and not AT you which is wonderful. He makes you feel right at ease.
His staff is super wonderfull.
