Phillip Hornbostel Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Hornbostel is a very personal man. My impressions overtime just got better all the time! His staff was pretty busy a lot of the time. Dr. Hornbostel cares about his patients. He makes sure that we know how we are to eat and take care of ourselves. His program is structured. When you first attend a group meeting, you will hear of the risks involved. I rate him as an exemplary surgeon. He is both great in surgical competence and his bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. Hornbostel, was that he seemed very sincere about helping people and he appeared to be very passionate about what he does.No, my impression of him has not changed, but i have had no more direct contact with him.His staff as a "whole" seemed very nice. My direct contact person...well she just seemed kinda tired of her job to me, after awhile.I must note...that person has since changed . In the paperwork i received, it is made clear that aftercare is very important. The dr. to me pulled no punches...he made it clear that there are risks with this and any surgery.Overall....so far i rate him a 8...enough to put my surgery ihn his hands!! i think both are importnant..surgical competence and bedside manner...they go hand in hand.

I know the doctor from my mother's surgery. I really do like the doctor but I am not overly fond of his nurse. She seemed very unconcerned about the progression with the insurance company and I got different stories everytime I spoke with her.

My first impression of Dr. Hornbostel was great. I knew I had choosen the right Dr.
It never changed over time. I grew to like him more and more. His staff is wonderful and are there to help with anything. I did not have to do anything when it came to my insurance they took care of it all. He is one of the leading Dr.'s in his field. His after care is wonderful and if there is any problems he is right there to help. He explained the risk of surgery, all the pros and cons and what he thought he could do for you. His rating overall is 100%. I am so glad I found him. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very competent surgeon.

He cares about his patients very much. He explained the procedure thourghly in a manner that I understood. He came in and checked on me after the surgery and everyday till I went home.

So far, all I can say here is that I have attended his mandatory seminar & found that he is very informative & answered many questions of the audiences.

Everytime I've called his office, MeLisa was very nice & explained what Mercy HMO will want before getting approved, etc.

I've not met Dr. H yet but I hope too in the near future.

Dr. Hornbostel has been a friend of the family for years. He, along with his staff, were great at preparing me for surgery. Everything went sooooo smoothly I was back at work in 6 days! He gives each patient a binder FULL of information that really takes the guesswork out of the procedure. It also was a great refference for my wife. The thing other should know about Phil is that he is very BLUNT! He is a doctor (very good one) that means he is not your mother or your whining post. He makes everything very clear and expects you to hold up your end of the bargain. When he says you will get up after your surgery, YOU WILL GET UP! He is very clear about the risks and commitment to post-op procedures (nutrition, group meetings, ect.). I had a wounderful experience and would HIGHLY reccomend Dr. Hornbostel and his staff.

He was very good and knew what he was doing .I haven't changed my mind about him in any way .they are all very well educated and freindly, and helpful with anything that I may need. nothing, everything he is very good . Yes his after care is very good to he stays on top of everything. he explained everything before he started anything .he was the best mam and surgeron that I have ever had to deal with and I would give him an a+ rating to anyone that would ask me about him .

I adored my doctor, his staff and the nurses at Bothwell. They were nothing but kind and understanding throughout my first 2 appts and through surgery. If you have a choice, come to Dr Hornbostel, even if you have to travel, the choice will be well worth it!
