hi there this is to let everyone know i meet the most nicest doctor in manteca ,ca dr coates ,i just wanted to say thank you doctor coates for making my life worth living again....i am now able to do things with my kids i have never been able to do ..may god bless you in many ways as you have me now i can injoy my kids and grandkids ...oh and my friends have dr coates as there doctor also they said if i am going to look as good as you then he is our man ''lol'' and that he is i give dr coates a 1- to 10 well i give him a 20 ...now i await my tummy tuck ! i can't wait .
my impression of dr. coates is that he was so sensitive and truly caring about my situation.he made me feel so comfortable, not ashamed.he explained everything to me.i liked him very much!rnrni've only met him once so far,so i can't answer #2.yet.i don't forsee a change in my view of him though.rnrnoffice staff were very friendly(all skinny though).answered any and all questions that i had-before meeting the dr.rnrnthere wasn't anything that i did not like about dr.coates.rnrni do not know enough to answer #5 yet,i'll update this one later.rnrnafter care was a big part of our conversation.it's extremely important.rnrnyes, he told me that for the rest of my life i'd be seeing him(at first)for the week after office visit to check everything and get the drain out, then an after care nurse, then my regular dr.and a nutition specialist.to make sure that i'm getting in enough vitamins and minerals and everything else i'm supposed to have.i will have to have periodic blood tests to make sure i have enough nutrients always.i know this is a life time commitment.he said we would discuss this in more detail after the insurance co. approves(knock on wood).rnrnhe told me that there are risks with this surgery such as,leakage, which is the most common occurance(even though the numbers are small),i would have to drink some dye the day after surgery to detect any.and it could be fixed relatively easy.he explained the procedure on fixing leakages to me.i also know about the other risks, but in my opinion,i'm at more of a risk the way i am now.rnrnso far, i'd rate him highly.he is new to this type of surgery but has specialized in abdomen and stomach surgery since the 80's.he has done a lot of laproscopic surgeries.that's the type he would perform on me.but i can only comment on his mannerisms,i haven't had any surgical experience with him as of yet.but, i (myself) feel comfortable enough to have him be my dr.rnrnwell from what i know so far, he seems to be a very caring and compassionate doctor.i've met him just once.he did make me feel like a real person.i like what i see in him so far.rni'll update more as this \"adventure\" goes on.rnrnrnits been almost 4 yrs for me now, with no complications... i haven't seen dr coates for about 2 1/2 yrs, but i know he's the bomb!!rn i trust him completely!!
Haven't met Dr. Coates as yet. Did meet the PA, Dianne. She answered all our questions, I always have my husband along that way I don't have to remember everything. The office staff has always been helpful and very nice. The classes and their pre-op program is quite extensive. I have friends who have had WLS and they are actually jealous of the pre-op program. So far, very pleased overall.
Dr. Coates is by far the most wonderful surgeon you will ever meet, he has been available for me for the almost 4 years taht I've known him, day or night. I'm now 3 years post op, only 2 minor complicatons which were in no wat his fault. I experianced muscle and bone loss and from an ulcer prior to surgery that became worse from erosion, so that's that. He is as stated in another update an absolute angel. I couldn't have been as successful without his help. I am still maintaining at 168 pounds lost with a weight around 150's. I started at 320. God Bless you Dr. Patrick Coates! Love, Mary
Dr. Coates is personally an angel that was sent to be an integral part of my saving grace. And yes eventhough I had some complications I can now say a year later that I have a NEW LIFE!!!! Thank you so much for having a huge heart to help others and perform GB for those of us who for one reason or another cannot lose the weight without surgical help.
Dr. Coates put me at ease the first time i met him, he is such a warm and caring person. His staff is great, they greet you when you come in and if you have a problem they help you and if they don't know the answers they will get the help or answers you need. he really stresses your after care and how important it is to follow through. his after care program is great and easy. in talking about the procedure he explains everything to you and in a way that you understand .10 being the highest i would rate him a 10plus,plus plus!!!! both bedsidemanner and surgical are great. i will recommend him to anyone that is interested!!!if i were to pick one negative thing it would be you do not get to see the surgeon as much as i would have liked to.I know that most surgeons do their job and then staff take over and this is fine but my impression is that i would have liked to see him at least once in his office after release from hospital, i still think he is great!!!!
I have all confidence in my surgeon and his PA. I did not see much of him before surgery except for the seminar and right before surgery. He was recommended to me by a few friends and then I did some research on my own. The people in his office are great and do everything they can to make this process a positive one.
