my surgeon was dr. patrick coates.
the first thing i had to do before i even had my consult was to attend a seminar given by dr. coates, where all of my questions were answered and a lot of very good info was given, that's when i made my decision to go ahead with the surgery.i thought and still think dr. coates is a very skilled and very knowledgeable surgeoen. he didn't play games or beat around the bush, there wasn't any need to, by the time you see the surgeon you know exactly why you are there.
in dr. coates program you are required to attend nutritional class at one month, 3 months, 6 monthes and one year which are very helpful and very motivating. there is also support groups once a month, they aren'tmandatory but thery are a great way give and recieve tips from other post-op's and here great info on lots of other things.
I had done business with Dr. Coates several
years ago to have spider veins injected, and
he had done different surgeries on my sister
and niece so I knew of him and liked him.
He is an excellent surgeon but you never see
him. I saw him 2 minutes prior to being wheeled into surgery and 2 minutes at discharge. Otherwise I have seen his PA's.
His office staff is very disorganized and in
desperate need of an office manager.
He is an excellent surgeon.
Be prepared for lost papers and delays with
the insurance because of this. Make copies
of everything.
Aftercare is very important to them. With
post op classes and appointments.
Yes very structured.
They were very blunt about the risks of the
surgery verbally and in writing.
Like I say, he is an excellent surgeon but
maybe a little too busy for aftercare.
Surgical competence because you won't see
much of him to know if he has a bedside manner.
He looks younger in person. Funny, doesn't seem to get bogged in details..I liked him. I'll know better on the 4th of June.
My surgeon was wonderful. He is one of the funniest nicest people I think I have ever come across. He is funny and to the point. To me it matters when someone has a good bedside manner. The staff in his office is really nice to me too. I do wish that they weren't so busy all the time for their sakes and mine haha. They encourage a outlined aftercare program.
Dr. Coates is a wonderful doctor! He takes all the time you need to answer everything you want to know. At first getting through to office staff was difficult, but the office has moved and become much more efficient. The girls are great. There is often a long wait in the waiting rrom for your appointments, but once you get in you see why, they really take time with you. I just take a book and expect to wait. My hospital saty was great, good nurses, care and concern for me was tops! Memorail & Dr. Coates have brought this to Modesto on a successful program and I am doing well so far.
Well, I had was was considered my consult appointment with Dr. Coates, only thing was I didn't actually get to meet Dr. Coates one of his NP's saw me at the initial consult appointment. He was really nice and I like him very much (Darryl) but I thought it was a little odd that I didn't actually get to met Dr. Coates yet. Because of that it makes it really hard for me to give my impression of him.
First impression of Dr Coates were that he seem to really be concerned about what ur needs were. Hes a very concerned and caring Doctor. I'm so glad he took me on as his patient. One thing for sure he sure is a very busy man! Way to go Dr Coates ur the bomb!!
My first visit was not what I expected. Took a while to get my approval due to the fact that the office was a mad house. Alot of changes goin on.
One thing about him he is sooooo popular hes in such high demand. Be prepared to spend a few hours waiting to be seen.
I really like how he explained everything to me and explained the after care.
He explains all the possibilities to me and was ready.I rate him a 10 hes great I would do it again! I recommend him highly!!
This surgeon was very skillful, confident and easy to talk to. i appreciated his positive and humorous attitude. No matter how good the surgeon, it is up to us the patients, to be compliant and determined to achieve the outcome we all desire...to be healthier and slimmer.
With the program Dr. Coates uses, I have every chance to succeed, but it is truly my choice. I'm working on the new me....Anita in Modesto
Dr. Coates is a radiant human being. He literally glows. He really loves what he does and wants to do as much for us as he can. He's spread a little thin but his P.A's are great the staff is very supportive. The aftercare program is very structured and the lively discussions in the waiting room only reflect each patients delight to have him as a surgeon. Dr. Coates has a structured educational program from begining to end. My overall rating for him would be a 10 out of 10, both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
