I cannot say enough good things about those people at BTC. I met with Dr. Choban and was thoroughly impressed with her. She spent a good 45 minutes with answering everyone of my questions, and I had a lot of them. I never felt rushed or hurried with her. After speaking with her I met with Diane, the dietician who lost over 130 pounds after her surgery, and she explained about the diet after surgery. Now waiting for insurance approval.

11-29-01 was the first time I met Dr Choban. I have read many positive comments about her from other patients and agree that she is very professional, yet very personable. She explained the surgical procedure and went over the risks as well as the average results of the surgery. She didn't spend a great deal of time on aftercare, but as the process continues I am sure I will become more informed. The office staff was helpful and I love that the people I spoke with have all had the surgery. I felt like they really understand our issues.

Dr. Choban was so great at our first meeting which was May of 2001. She has a great "bedside" manner and really was great about answering all of my questions. (There were a LOT!!)Very patient and once she realized I was a nursing student a lot more detailed. Guess she figured I could follow. Her front office people were cold and clinical but hey whatever. The people that weighed me and checked me out were very nice and warm, caring people. The appointment did seem a little rushed, but maybe that was just me.

GIVING HONOR TO THE ONE MOST HIGH, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IT TOOK TO VISIT BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO MEET WITH DR C. THE FIRST VISIT SHE WAS DETAIN AND WOULD BE TWO HRS LATE I DECIDED TO RESCHUDLE. HOWEVER MY ACTUAL INTITAL VISIT WA 11/07/01. DR C WAS WORTH THE WAIT. WHEN SHE STEPED INTO THE ROOM THERE WAS A CONFORTING SPIRIT ABOUT HER THAT MADE ME FEEL THAT WHEN I LEFT THIS OFFICE I WOULD BE WELL INFORMED. I COULD NOT HAVE ASK FOR A MORE KIND,CONSIDERED AND UNDERSTANDING SURGEON. THE STAFF WAS ALSO GREAT. DR C EXPLAINED THE SURGERY IN GREAT DETAILS. DRAWING ILLUSTRATIONS, SHE WAS VERY DETAILED. EACH STEP WAS EXPLAINED ABOUT THE SURGERY FROM BEGINNING TO END. THE RISKS, ADVANTAGES, AFTERCARE AND MEDICATIONS. WHEN I LEFT DR C OFFICE I LEFT KNOWING THAT I WOULD BE IN GOOD HANDS & THAT I HAD MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR CHOBAN TO EVERYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING THIS SURGERY.

GOD BLESS

I was rreally impressed and greatly at ease with Dr. Choban. She treated my like a human being. Her office staff was very helpful and encouraging. I can't stress how nervous I was and how the staff and Dr. Choban put me at ease and made me feel comfortable with my decision. My first meeting was informative and a chance for me to really understand the remafacations of what bariatric surgey could be. Dr. Choban didn't sugar coat anything and covered everything.

I can't wait for my surgery.

Post-op: I can't say enough good things about Dr.Choban. Her knowledge and bedside manner are unsurpassed. The staff at BTC in Ohio are excellent and very compassionate. I would reccommend this program to anyone.

Pre-op:My first impression of Dr. Choban was that she really seems to care about her patients. She gave detailed explanations of the risks and what to expect after surgery. One thing she said really stuck in my mind-- my friend that went with me asked Dr.Choban if some patients have difficulty losing weight and/or what factors determine how "successful" someone is. Dr.Choban replied "well, its kinda like comparing this to a train ride-- some people are content just to ride the train and let it happen, others want to drive the train and make things happen. Both get to where they are going but those who drive the train tend to get there faster then those who just are along for the ride". That really stuck with me. The office staff was very nice- everyone I met had also had WLS and showed their before photos. Dr.C stated that aftercare is very important and emphasized that if anything arises that she encourages patients to call the toll free number reserved for post-op patients(any time day or night). There is a structured after care program that all post-op patients are encouraged to follow. The only negative of my experience was that I had to wait so long for my appointment-- scheduled for 12:45 and saw DR.Choban at 2:50. Also the office staff seemed too busy-- everyone seemed to have a "rehearsed" speech when they talked to me, it felt like they had done this so many times before that I was just another number. But overall I was most impressed with Dr.Choban's expertise and reputation as an excellent surgeon. These are just my personal opinions and impressions.

I thought Dr Choban was very nice. She explained things and answered my questions very well. I even took my sister in law who is a RN. She also thought this surgery is a good idea. She as well liked dr choban. She took her time and even drew me a picture etc. The office was very nice and I had a nurse who asked me alot of question but she was very nice. I dont know yet about my surgery stuff cause i was just approved for my surgery....yea!! So I will update then. I did talk to a lady who had the surgery but she didn't talk to long she seemed to be in a hurry. I actually talked to the nurse more then her. The nurse I had also had the surgery. If your looking for a good surgeon that acts human...Dr Choban should be it!

My first impression of Dr. Choban was that she was very experienced in bariatric surgery. She answered all of my questions and i left feeling with a feeling of complete confidence in trusting my care to her. I talked to Dr. Choban prior to surgery in the prep room and she made me feel very calm and joked around a bit relaxing me as i was extremely nervous to say the least. The staff at the Bariatric Treatment Center office in Grove City were very friendly and considerate. They answered all my questions and made me feel like an individual depsite the large number of people in the office that day. There's nothing about my surgeon that i can say i disliked, she has a great bedside manner. The hospital staff informed me that Dr. Choban is very punctual about her surgeris and they were correct, she was ready to go and the surgery took about 1 1/2 hours. She made sure that i knew i could call her anytime with questions which was very reassuring. Overall i would recommend Dr. Choban to anyone who is interested in bariatric surgery, her knowledge is very extensive and her surgical skill is very professional.

My initial visit was March 8, 2001 and about
10 minutes outside Grove City I blew a tire
with no spare and had to be towed. At first
I thought this was a sign - don't have this
surgery, but when I called the center was
very helpful and allowed me to come in as
soon as I got back on the road. Saw Dr.
Choban at about 3:00 instead of my 11:00 am
appointment. She was very friendly and quite
thorough in covering the details. I had done
alot of homework on the procedure and really
had no major questions. The patient consult
with a former surgery patient went well too.
Her surgery was 5 years ago and she has kept
off 150 lbs. I am confident all will go as
well for me. Since it was at the end of her
day, I think Dr. Choban was generous with
the time and attention she gave me. I know
she has good credentials and an affiliation
with OSU Medical School. She has performed
this surgery for many years and I feel she
is well educated and competent along with
being personable - first impression. Overall
I'd give an intial 8 (check back after the
surgery).

My first impression of Dr. Choban was she tells you just like it is... and I like that in people... no sugar coating it... just tell me the good and the bad.

My impression of her is still the same... I have talked with a few others that have had her and they feel the same way. She is great!

The staff for the most part were wonderful...some of them had the surgery and had pics there to show us....

Ask her anything and she will tell you....it is your consulation and she wants to ask questions and feel comfortable with making your decision.

She tells you what you need to do... and makes sure you have the phone # if you need to call...

The BTC has a very good after care program... you meet with the docs and the nutritionist each visit... ask questions... and the give you encouragement

She was very up front with the risks... and the chances of it happening and what they do when it does... I felt very relaxed with her

I would rate Dr. Choban a 10 out of 10....

I would say the Surgical competence.
