Dr. Choban is very knowledgable, experienced and sympathetic.
The Office staff is very considerate. The Counselors are awesome. Since they have each had the surgery I appreciated the benefit of their experience.
Dr. Choban and the staff emphasize after care. They also stress the importance of following the plan.
Dr. Choban addressed the risks from the greatest to the least with statistics and personal opinions and advice.
Overall, Dr. Choban appears to be a competent, empathetic, and caring individual with a genuine concern for her patients.
I spoke with a few of her patiets in the waiting area. All of them were very pleased with their care by Dr. Choban. All opinions of Dr. Choban on the internet are favorable.
The first day and a half I was pretty uncomfortable but my surgeon had told me this up front so there were no surprises. At my 6 week post-op check-up I teased her that I was glad she became a surgeon and not a seamstress (while looking at my incision scar). She laughed and said "You haven't seen any of my needlepoint, yet." She is human and a lot of fun as well as being a very experienced surgeon.

I love Dr. Choban and her staff in Grove, City. In my personal exerience, if it wasn't for her I would have found another group because of the problems with slow response and not getting the insurance company the things they needed by the main office in Mich. I would have to call repeatedly to get someone on the phone and to make sure the last info the insurance company needed was faxed. This was the 2nd time around, the first time it all went soothly except of course the insurance denial. They were great help with the appeals and referral to a lawyer.

I like the structured after care visits and the feeling that I can call the Grove City office at any time for questions and concerns.

A lot of people on the Grove City staff have had the surgery themselves, so they know what you are going through.

Dr. Choban has done a lot of rny's and she is specializing in it at this time.

She is very upfront with the risks and will answer all your questions even if it takes hours. She doesn't make you feel hurried.

I would rate Dr. Choban and staff as a 9 but the BTC main office as a 3 or 4.

I think that surgical competence and bedside manner are both inportant. Without one you don't have confidence in the other.

My first impression of my surgeon was of competence. My impression of her has not changed. I still think she is very competent and down to earth. I liked her office staff, they were all kind and very helpful. I really have not experienced anything negative about my doctor. I feel I had very through aftercare and I can talk to a dietician any time I need to. I was told about the risks of surgery before hand. Overall I would rate Dr. Choban as A+. The most negitive experience I had was the liquid diet right after surgery, but I realize it was designed for my stomach to heal. I had a really bad day just before I could move into pureed food and I called the clinic and they had me talk to a 3 year post-op patient. That really helped me a lot.

I met with Dr. Chopan and found her to be very knowledgeable and very interested in helping her patients

I was impressed with her caring, personal manner.
The office staff has been most helpful, even though
there were a couple of questions that were
referred to the Michigan (home) office.
All concerned were excellent in getting my
insurance approved, even though it took from
mid-August, 1999 to December. Surgery is scheduled for
late Jan.'00.

My Surgeon was Dr. Patricia Choban she was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable with the procedure that I had permormed. She was very knowledgeable about the procedure as she has performed hundreds of them and knows all the ins and outs and all the possible side effects and compications. She really made me feel like she understood about my weight loss problems and didn't treat me as if I was defective somehow . The office staff was also very friendly and they answered all my questions and helped me through the whole process of pre-op and post-op.The Bariatric Treatment Center that I went to has a very structered post-op/ follow up care program. They just don't do the surgery on you than send you out on your own . You meet with the surgeon and dietician before and after surgery. And the dieticain was available to answer my questions even after I had come home from the hospital. They gave me all the information that I needed to make an infomed decsion on my weight loss/ surgery options and all the possible complications and side effects. My surgeon had a great bedside manner and was a very good surgeon to, which isn't always the case.

I was impressed With the way Dr. Choban treated her staff and how she greeted me with a big smile, she made you feel at ease.
The office staff were just wonderful and some were post-ops. After Dr. Choban did her examination and she told my husband all about
the surgery and answered our questions we talk to Susan who had RNY 5 years ago and had lost 140 pounds. she looked wonderful. She
knew what I was feeling and that help to not feel alone. I had researched this surgery for about six months before deciding to go to
see a surgeon. I am glad I did, because I feel that with the help from BTC. Dr. Choban was a wonderful choice.
