I first saw Dr. Marymor at the Barix seminar. My first impression was that this man was not a public speaker and didn't look too comfortable in the role as a salesperson for which I was grateful. I then had a consultation with him and found him to be wonderful. He is very confident and that's comforting. He is also very patient and encouraged me to ask questions. No, I suppose he doesn't have the gift of gab but he is definitely a genuine person who is straight up from the start. I respect that and look forward to being in his care.
Dr. Marymor is a matter of fact person. He seems very confident as to he knows what he is doing. I would rather have a slight stuffy person who will make sure I live through this than an extremely friendly person who is going to kill me. Office staff was awesome. He stressed how important after care is. He told me the many risks of the surgery. I would give him a 4.5 out of 5 rating. If everything turns out ok after the operation, maybe I will rate him a 5 out of 5. lol
My first impression of Dr. Marymor was that he had just come from surgery and looked tired! I also found him very difficult to read, not too "warm" but seemed to know very well what he was talking about. Had done over 1000 of the RNY surgeries. Preop he was a little more friendly until we got to the issue of pain management. They had told me to have my pain doctor write out recommendations for pain management as I was on chronic long lasting pain medications for my knees and abdominal pain (the reason I decided to have the surgery). Dr. Marymor refused to follow the recommendations and would only give me what he gives routinely; not even as much as I take every day despite a 9 inch long abdominal incision!!! (longer because I had had my gallbladder out and I had scar tissue and adhesions, and he had to redo my attachment once because he didnt like the way it looked-- I have no problem with this, he took extra time to be sure all the connections were correct and secure). I think he is a very good surgeon but his hospital aftercare was awful for me. I was in horrible pain the whole hospital stay and couldnt wait to get out so I could start taking my own medication and get some relief from the pain. My situation is unique-- most people rate his pain management as "good" or "excellent" on their site but anyone with pre-existing chronic pain issues needs to thoroughly discuss the issue with him ahead of time. The aftercare program is great-- dieticians and nurses are readily available for questions, and I have a notebook with very detailed instructions for every stage of recovery. I called the hospital after I was home and will be following up with a different surgeon, because I was so upset at the pain management issue I felt I couldn't comfortably follow up with Dr. Marymor in case I needed some surgical procedure in followup; I have no qualms at all about him doing surgery on me but would be very scared about postop pain management with him. (Again, as a person with chronic pain; most people rate his postop pain management as just fine).
My first reaction about Dr. Marymor was that he is a personable person. Very thorough in all aspects of bariatric surgery. Seems very concerned for his patients! Now, after being 2 yrs. post op, I still have same opinion about him. He is very caring and is concerned for all his patients post op and pre op! Would not have chosen another surgeon or facility-Barix Clinics in Langhorne, PA is the best! Would highly recommend anyone there. Great place to have surgery done. They take excellent care of you while you are there. Before and after surgery!!
I have only had 1 meeting with Dr. Marymor, but I wanted everyone to know that if you are looking into ORNY surgery, this is the guy to talk to! I went on referral to Barix, and I am glad I did. Experience aside (800+ surgeries), he has a wonderful personality. I did not feel rushed, and he answered all of my questions happily. I am looking forward to my journey with Barix and Dr. Marymor.
I really like Dr. Marymor. He definately gave my husband and myself the impression that he is very serious about what he does. He's not "Mr. Personality", but with a surgeon most do not have a warm bedside manner. He thoughly explained the surgery and it's risks. I feel he is very competent and have no quams about him doing the surgery.
Dr Marymor has been great. Very knowledgeable. He is direct, to the point. He has been very supportive and positive. He is thorough and gives detailed instructions. Best of all, he gave me his personal cell phone in case I had any problems or questions, I don't know of any other Dr who will do that. He did his best to make sure there were no surprises and I knew what I was getting into beforehand. I would highly recommend Dr Marymor to anyone considering this surgery. He knows his stuff!!
He was very serious and rarely smiled.
The day of my surgery, he smiled at me and was very professional and caring with not only me but my mother. The staff at the Barix Clinic, Langhorne Pa. Were great!!!. I felt as if I were home with family. I was totally pleased with not only my surgeon but all the staff that I met.. From 1-10 , 10 being the highest, I would definitely rate them a 10..
My surgeon was very informative and very competent and knowledgeable when I asked him any question.
I would agree that the most important thing to me would be surgical competence. I rather , he know what he is doing than smile at me and be as confused as I was..
Dr. Marymor , you are #1 in my book!!!!
My first impression of him was he was straight up and honest very confident, he was the best doctor by far he gives you his personal cell after surgery and is in to check on you every day. Barix staff and facility are all top notch and a very clean hospital, the were all on top of everything I would recommend Barix Clinics to anyone.
Poor thing...he was to busy! But he took the time to tell me everything about the RNY procedure. He apologized for his office overbooking him. He made me feel very comfortable about the surgery. He is very confident with his surgical skills. He has a very dry sense of humor, but he had me laughing. I love a doctor who is serious, but shares the fact that they are human too!
