I had intended to have my surgery done laparoscopically, but the minute my fiance and I stepped out of the consult room after having met with Dr. Marymor, I had changed my mind and decided to have my procedure done open. Dr. Marymor was very to the point, answered our questions (what few we had after 3-1/2 years of research on WLS and working in the medical field) and made us feel like he was genuine in his care and concern for each and every one of his patients. Today (8/2/06) I received a call from Barix stating my surgery date would need to be changed from 8/16 to another date of my choice (I chose 8/14) because Dr. Marymor would be out of town and unable to be at Barix to provide my follow-up care after my originally scheduled date of surgery. I was SO impressed about his concern and willingness to be flexible in changing my date! My fiance and I feel very comfortable knowing that Dr. Marymor will be the surgeon performing my surgery and providing my aftercare in the coming few weeks!!
I immediately liked Dr. Marymor when I met him at the pre-op consult. He was friendly, but he didn't sugar-coat anything. I talked to him again just prior to surgery where he answered all of my questions and again explained the risks and expected outcome. Whether during the initial consult or during post-op exams, he never made me feel like he was rushed or that I didn't have his full attention. rnrnDr. Marymor, the nursing staff, and the facility itself in Langhorne are first-rate.
Dr. Marymor, and the entire staff at Barix Clinics are amazing! He talks to you in terms you can full understand, and he gives you the full spectrum of options you have. He made my decision so simple, and he made my husband and myself know that we were in the best hands possible.rnrnNow, after three months, he's still incredibly supportive, and I enjoy going to visit him at my check-ups. He's the best!
Dr. Marymor is totally awesome! I could not have asked for a better surgeon. He was very straight forward in the consultation and made sure that any questions we had were answered before we left. Once I was discharged from the hospital if I had any problems he was always just a phone call away. If anyone is considering the Barix Clinic, I highly recommend the Clinic and Dr. Marymor!
My first impression was that he seemed a little cold, but that he takes this surgery very seriously. I ended up having a rash and had my surgery reschedulued. I was heartbroken and very upset. Dr. Marymor called me later that day to check on me and encourage me. When I finally had surgery he greeted me and it seemed like he actually remembered me. (I know Dr.s read your chart before they see you, but most of them still don't act like they remember me - he did!) After surgery he was nice and I learned that he gives his cell phone number out to his patients so they don't have to deal with leaving him messages through the nurses in case something is relaly wrong. My favorite Dr. Marymor moment - was at my 6 mo. check up. He came into the room and said that I'd be almost invisible if i kept losing like I was. The way he said it was warm and friendly and of course encouraging. The office staff at Barix was great (they could work on the way they answer the phone - they don't come across as being as friendly as they are in person). Dr. marymor did a very good job with my surgery. He only used steri strips to close me up on the outside which was great since I didn't end up with scars from staples or stitches, and they just came off on their own rather than have to make a special trip for stitch remval. My incision/scar has healed very well and looks much better than a few other people's that I have personally seen. Aftercare is routine at Barix and I live two hours away so visits too often would be a pain. After my 6 mo check up I don't have to go back til I'm a year out. I would (and have) highly recommend Dr. Marymor and Barix to anyone considering this surgery.
I thought he was very straight forward. He is very competent and very caring of his patients. His staff is very knowledgeable and sensitive to his patients needs. I would say he is very concerned and interested in aftercare. He stresses how important it is and very necessary. You are given his number for any questions or concerns that arise after surgery. I have not had to use it but it makes me feel more important to him as his patient that I am given that number. He wants you to call him directly no matter what time of the day it is. The only thing negative I can say is I had to go from midnight until 1 pm when the surgery finally began and so my veins were in rough shape. That I could see could be improved and would be the only thing I can think of that would be negative.
