I first met Dr Jawad in an information session at the Osceola Region Medical Center in February of 2007. His manner of speaking was dry and monotone and very technical. I was however impressed by his reputation online and his published success rate and minimal complications. I had little additional contact with his office until May where I actually travelled to Ocala for what I thought was going to be my inital surgical consultation. This wound up being a 4 - 5 hour long group presentation of the same information that was provided in the inital Information Session I attended in February with little new or additional information. Prior to this visit I had done extensive research and had my Primary Care physician forward all my current medical documentation to Dr Jawads office prior to the appointment. Very little time was spent on me personally. The entire presentation was done as a group, making me feel more like cattle than a valued patient. However, Dr Jawads predetermination team was his offices redemption. Odalys was kind, available, and had what felt like a personal sense of responsibility to my success. She would quickly respond via email to questions and inquiries. Her work was so through that the approval from the insurance company was received in less than 2 days. After this the roller coaster began again. 5 weeks later I was schedule for my Pre-Op date and again spent 5 - 6 hours in a group setting reviewing information discussed in the inital Fenruary Information session and nutritional information that I had already received from Hours of expensive consultation from my own personal nutritionist, and training for rehad and Personal Maintenance that was much better received one on one in the Hospital as part of my post-op contact. The experience at the Pre-Op day felt unorganized and confusing as if all the invited guests had never heard each others speils before and the environment of the Session was not at all conducive to learning. Dr Jawad is an excellent Surgeon and the minimal Pain and discomfort I feel post-op is a testament to his expertese, however his \"bedside\" skills and that of many of his office staff are things your should brace for impact with. Ask your questions via Email for the only response you may receive and expect to spend time when visiting his Ocala Office. The Information he and his team share are valuable, but if you are like me and have a plentiful array of hoops to jump through for insurance purposes, much of what you will endure will be repetative and boring. If Dr Jawad had done more personal investigation on me personally, my time spent could have been much more efficient.

A very professional doctor who knows his stuff!!

Dr. Jawad was very professional. He takes his work seriously and I have total confidence in his abilities. My surgery went great and I have had no complications. I am progressing wonderfully and give much of the credit to Dr. Jawad and his skill at the laparoscopic RNY. His office staff is terrific. They answer all questions - no matter how many you have! He is very serious about having a g-tube after the rny, and it is non-negotiable. I understand the reasons why and have no issues with his decision regarding that. He has a structured aftercare program. He definitely addressed the risks of surgery and went through possible complications and detailed his complication rates. They were low. In part because of the emphasis on the aftercare. I think his surgical competence is probably better than his bedside manner, but I found him pleasant and very nice and professional. However, the surgical skills just overshadow everything else.

Dr. J totally ROCKS!! He saved my life...and my husband too. Mike went from 330# (55\" waist) to 180 (32\" waist). I went from 265#(size 32) to 145 (size 8) and still losing. I was absolutely THRILLED with Dr. J and his staff. They returned calls immediately and were ALWAYS available when needed. rnrnAfter extensive research, one of the many aspects of Dr. J's surgery that is different from most every doctor is....his surgery only takes 45 mins! Most every other doctor takes from 2-3 HOURS! rnrnI was treated like a princess in the hospital with exceptional pain managment.

Dr. Jawad has proven to be extremely competent and knowledgeable in his field. Not much of a talker on the outside of his office, he prepares his patients well by giving them an arsenal of information and paperwork. His staff works well along with him and I have yet to have a bad experience. I am quite satisfied by the way he has treated my father-in-law, wife and now myself.rnrnHe is extremely diligent on stressing afterdacre and followups. And having gone through the surgery I now see why. I am glad to have chosen him and recommend him highly to those seeking WLS.

I liked Dr. Jawad right away. He was quiet but had a great sense of humor and made sure that I fully understood everything that I needed to know about the surgery.

First impression is that he is very quiet and rnto the point. I don't think he is a touchy-feely doctor, but that is not why I chose him. His reputation was well established as a leader in this field and he has yet to dissapoint me. He shows tremendous knowledge of his work and is very upfront about why he is does the things he does. He was very upfront about the risk and the potential post-op complications. I feel that I was in the best hands and that I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone that is interested in WLS.rnrnrn

WELL I HAD MY PRE-OP YESTERDAY.. WHAT A LONG DAY IT WAS.. SO I MET DR. JAWAD AND SOME OF THE STAFF THAT WILL BE HELPING ME ALONG THE WAY. I WAS VERY SCARRED BEFORE I GOT THERE AND I LEFT THERE FEELING ABOUT 80% BETTER. I WAS TOLD TO WRITE DOWN QUESTIONS FOR THE DOCTOR AND I DID BUT WHEN I LEFT THERE I HAD SO MANY MORE QUESTIONS. LUCKLY THE NURSE AT THE HOSPITAL THAT DID MY PRE-OP TEST WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ANSWERED SOME OF THEM FOR ME.. DR. JAWAD'S STAFF IS AWESOME THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT THERE PATIENTS.. DR. JAWAD IS VERY SERIOUS WHEN IT COMES TO HIS WORK I CRACKED A JOKE ABOUT BEING HIS FIRST PATIENT FOR SURGERY AND HE JUST LOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY BUT HE DOESNT SUGAR COAT ANYTHING.. HE GOES OVER EVEYTHING IN DETAIL WHITH YOU ABOUT THE SURGERY.. ONLY THING I HAD A PROBLEM WITH WAS I WISH THEY WOULD OF SHOWED PICTURES OF WHAT YOUR STOMACH WILL LOOK LIKE ON THE OUTSIDE AFTER SURGERY BUT OTHER THEN THAT I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH CHOOSING HIM FOR MY DOCTOR..

I had pre-op last Thursday and met Dr. Jawad for the first time. He seems to be everything everyone says about him. Calm, reassuring, knowledgeable, a champion for his patients, loves what he does, and never too busy for questions. It was obvious to me by the way his office is run and his staffs competancy that he must be an excellent doctor. But meeting him confirmed that. I'm so glad he is performing my surgery and after care. I'm not nervous at all and ready for this new tool.

I have yet to meet Dr. Jawad. I was very impressed with Medical staff. Kevin seemed knowledgeable and efficient. The verdict is still out on admin staff. I am trying to keep an open mind on what disd not seem an \"open mind\" on some processes. Am sure they have been doing it \"their way\" a very long time and are obviously succesfull. I just did not see it as the \"only way.\"
