He was my "second opinion" surgeon. I was mailed all the necessary paperwork in advance, so I was ready once I arrived to my appointment. One question I was asked and was not ready for was a detailed weight loss/maintenance history. I had tried so many "DIEts" but when asked to put it in writing, it was difficult to recollect. I would say think long and hard and include every weight loss attempt. My surgeon made me aware that this was an important piece of info the insurance folks look at.
Aftercare was emphasized by him, that you will be his patient for the rest of your life. He made me aware of the required vitamins etc...and the results if you do not take them.
Dr Jawad is very quiet. But very smart
and very interested in helping people.
His staff was great. Always helpful and professional.
Just know that he doenst really talk a lot, so be prepared with questions. If you ask, he will answer you, but other than that, no.
THis is just from my personal experience.
Today was my first meeting with Dr. Jawad. He is short on words but a nice man. Not a lot of chit chat. He is reassuring and makes it known that this is not something you try but a change with risks. He also made sure that I knew it might not work if I didn't make it word. I like him. I'll know more later.
I like Dr Jawad very much he has been very encouraging and was very complete in describing the surgery and what was involved. He was up front and honest as to how many surgeries he has preformed, what is available to me and what he recommends. Also he told me what complication's may arise, how many patient's he has had that had complication's, even death. He explained how I can help in my healthcare to avoid potential problems. I work at a hospital as a respiratory therapist so I knew Dr Jawad and his reputation as a physician as well as having personal experience in helping take care of some of his patients. I have never heard an unkind or negative comment made concerning his skills as a surgeon. I feel very safe and assured in his care. He does have a structured aftercare program, he even required me to attend a support group before I had surgery to talk with others to help me make a complete and educated discision. His bedside manner is somewhat reserved, he does not make pleasant small talk, and if I personally had not known of his skills as a physician I might have found his manner somewhat abrupt and dry. At a later date I attended a presentation he gave and a few times he smiled and was even funny. I would definitely recommend him to others.
