Dr. Jawad has been doing this procedure for years in Central Florida with minmal complications. He is not extremly talkative, but that is not the most important thing. There is a local support group of which I attend Dr Jawad supports and recommends to his patients. I think Dr Jawad is a competent surgeon and a compassionate person.
Office staff helpful polite
I'm myself am a nurse and I'm very picky about my doctors. I was made aware of this doctor by a friend of mine. I was looking into another doctor, but he really turned me off. He was basing my need for this surgery on the information that I send out,but never really met me. I was denied because of that. My friend told me about Dr Jawad, and I have to say that I was very pleased. He himself was very informative, and asked me lots of questions. He wanted to make sure that we were both on the same page. The staff are really helpful, and don't mind answering all the quesations that I had.The only thing that I didn't like about the doctor, was the risk list that he went over, but I knew he had to do it. I rate him high, I'll tell you more after the surgery.
I was very impressed upon first meeting Dr. Jawad. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure, and was very patient answering the page of questions I had...he asked if I was going into journalism...hee hee hee! His office staff was very kind, also quite professional. I was sent a packet of information prior to my consultation, as well as paperwork (of course) to complete prior the appointment. I can't think of anything negative about my visit.
12/9/01- I have only had one meeting with Dr. Jawad, and that was a relatively quick one. He checked me out, and decided if he would do the surgery, then answered a couple of questions about himself and his success/failure rates, training, and experience. I will meet with him tomorrow to discuss the actual surgery. His staff has been very friendly and helpful- except for a mix-up over a rescheduled appointment! But they took that in stride and did their best to accomodate me and get done what we could.
He is a very quite man, doesn't say much iniatially.
Once we began discussing the surgery and I started asking questions, I noticed that he really knows what he is doing. No hesitation once so ever to answer questions.
I really liked his staff, they seem very caring towards each patient.
The only thing I liked least is really no big deal, but it is how quiet he is initially. I'm used to doctors coming into the room, introducing themselves, and shaking hands with you. He walked in didn't say anything as he reviewed my chart.
He emphasized after care enough in my opion. Not too much, and not too little.
We didn't really discuss the aftercare program. From what I've heard from his other patients, that comes later.
Dr. Jawad didn't really discuss the risks, because I have done A LOT of research on the internet which I told him. So I am familiar with the risks.
Overall, I would rate him a 9. Didn't get a 10 because of the quiet thing.
I found Dr. Jawad to be a man of few words, but very supportive of the obese person. As I got to know him over several visits, I found he is a nice man, who happens to be a bit shy, which is uncommon in surgeons. He attends and supports a local support group. I find that a very great thing about him. His office staff is nice. I would recommend Dr, Jawad to future patients. What I liked the best is the free consult he gives to those who are considering weight loss surgery. Do your home work and know what questions to ask the Doctor before your first visit. Dr. Jawad insists on aftercare. I feel he was very straight forward telling the risk as well as the benefits of the surgery. I would rate Dr. Jawad as very good. He has been doing this surgery for many years, and is competent at not only R&Y open, but laporscopic as well. He is supportive, but he is still a quiet man. Gentle and caring.
I think most people who meet Dr. Jawad are going to be put to ease. He makes sure you know that he knows his stuff. He is direct and confident. I am told he really cares about the well being of his patients.
I am feeling confortable now about him.
So far I have only had one visit with him.
I like him, Thats all I can say at this time.
I met with Dr. Jawad for the first time on 8/30/2001. He seemed a little uptight at first but my husband cracked a few jokes and he was all smiles. He made sure that we didn't leave his office until all of our questions were answered. He took us step by step through the whole process from thinkng about surgery to his aftercare program. We attended one of his weight loss support groups at a nearby hospital which he happened to be speaking at. His office staff was very supportive as well. They were all very knowledgable and encouraging which I think is important. They sent out my paperwork on the same day I had my appointment so I'm just waiting for approval now. I am looking frward to working with Dr. Jawad's office. :)
I found Dr Jawad to be quiet, just like everyone described on this website. However, I did like him immediatley. He answered all my questions at the consult and his office staff was very nice.
Since dealing with my insurance company, I find that Tracie is extremely helpful. She is the one is helps with all the insurance and approval matters. She is very patient and understanding.
I developed even more respect for Dr Jawad after attending one of the support group meetings and seeing him there. He even spoke. I think it is remarkable that he would find the time is his busy schedule to attend this meeting.
