t first I wasn't sure. I check things about him first. I had some people who he had done the surgery on to talk to. Went to the support group. His office staff was excellant. His Insurance girl Tracey helped me the Insurance papers , It took a year but we finnally got thru it. Some of these questions I can not answer yet. My appointment is for the 7th of March and surgery is the 12th.

I was very excited to meet Dr.Jawad, he was recommended to me by another bariatric doctor that I had found on the internet. When I first went he explained everything that he would do and he felt confident that he could do the surgery laproscopically (the only way I wanted to have it done. By going to Dr. Jawad it meant that I would have the surgery out of town from where I live. I have to travel approximately 2 hours for doctor visits and surgery. He explained all the risks involved and what would be required of me afterwards (diet, vitamins, exercise, etc.) His office has always been available to me for questions (and I have lots)both before and after the surgery. The staff and doctor never make you feel uncomfortable - it's like they really want to help. I can't thank Dr. Jawad enough. He has given me back my life. I had surgery 6 months ago and have lost 106 pounds so far. Have gone from 320 lbs to 214. I can finally clean my kitchen floor again!

The only criticism I have for the doctor is that he should be able to tell patients where to buy vitamins and exactly what kind to take (other than just a multivitamin). It took me several months to find vitamins that I could handle.

He wasnt very talkative, but who cares what his social skills are as long as he knows what hes doing to my body

He became more aprochable after awhile.

His staff are wonderful, I cant tell you what a help they have been to me.

If you are going to Dr Jawad for the first time be prepared hes not a talkative fellow. However he is a truly gifted surgeon and was named Dr of the year 2001 in his specialty and that say quite a lot in my opinion.

His aftercare is rather easy to follow, however being a new post-op I found I am my own worst enemy.

He answers what questions you have, so go in with a list 12 pages long, you will not get your answers any other way.

Surgical competence however his manner was the best when I was in the hospital.

I had a great experience with Dr. Jawad as my surgery. Almost no pain and any questions answered any time I had a need. Great staff at his office. He really cares about his patients. My worse happening was drinking the liquid for the x-ray to check for any leakage. Talk about tasting HORRIBLE! YUK!!!! But, it only lasted a few minutes and then it was over.

1/3/02...I saw Dr. Jawad again today for the last time before surgery. He and his nurse are so kind. They smile all the time. My husband went with me this time and I think they put him much more at peace with this whole process than he had been before. It was serendipity that brought me to Dr. Jawad but now, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

12-10-01...I went to see Dr. Jawad today for the first time after having been run through the ringer by Dr. Thoburn's office. Dr. Jawad's office seemed VERY efficient. I went to see him with my surgery pre-approved and was scheduled on the spot! Dr. Jawad is very soft spoken and a delight to look at. He rather reminds me of Omar Sharif! And ohhh! the accent!!! He took time to answer all my questions--not elaborately, just straightforward and with few words. His medical assistants were VERY kind and sensitive though.

Dr. Jawad is a great surgeon with an excellent bedside manner. His office staff are extremely friendly and they will help you with anything you need help with. His nurse Pattie is really caring and helpful with patients as well. I call her all the time and she always gets me the meds or the answers I need. Dr. Jawad has a great support group, and everytime I go to his office, I end up chatting it up with someone else who had the surgery.
Dr. Jawad will answer all of your questions and make sure you understand the risks of this surgery too, so you know what you are getting into before he does anything.
I just get to like him more and more the more that I deal with him. I would reccommend him to anyone in FL or the entire US, for that matter.
