I first I wasn't sure about him or his secretary, by the time for surgery they both really pulled through for me. The day before the surgery the insurance company denied the surgery I was so upset my parents drove from Florida to help with my children and me and within 1 hour the doctor called me and told me the surgery was approved, for that I will be forever grateful. The office is clean and the office staff are nice just very busy. Dr Roslin is wonderful and friendly , he wants you to keep up with your appointments . Exercise, eat well and take your vitamines. I rate him 100%.
If you're looking for a new best friend or for someone to hold your hand, Roslin may not be your man. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a surgeon who is skilled, competent and truly has a gift from God, you're in the right place. I continued fighting for insurance approval with Mitch Roslin because I'd heard he was incredibly skilled in performing the DS. In a market like NYC where there are a plethora of surgeons who perform this procedure, he remains a stand-out. Reports from his post-op patients were so excellent, that I knew I could settle for no one else. There were delays and miscommunications with his office staff at times but every day post-op I regret nothing because I know I put myself in the best hands possible.
My first, second and every impression of Dr. Roslin was extremely positive. He is bright, informative, and extremely skilled as a surgeon. I like Dr. Roslin very much. I find that he's a good listener and extremely knowlegeable about obesity surgery. Before surgery, I went to the informational seminar. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Roslin's knowlege. He addressed all of the positives of surgery, risks of surgery, procedures, expectations, and aftercare. rnrn I had a rough start in the beginning with his office staff. Anytime I called his office the answering machine would pick up. I would leave messages and I would not get a return call back. After I complained, I never had a problem again. The office staff has been very helpful and accommodating. rnrnI had my surgey with Dr. Roslin in September. I stayed overnight at Lenox Hill Hospital and I was very impressed with the staff. They were attentive to all of my needs. rnrnDr. Roslin has asked to see me monthly so that he could monitor my weight loss and give me fills should I need them. He emphasizes after care as the top priority to maximize my weight loss. Dr. Roslin is #1 in my book. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon and I couldn't be happier with my decision to choose Dr. Roslin.
There are three surgeons in this office and I talked to each one of them. I liked all three but Dr.Roslin made a better impression on me. As a matter of fact, I did not really like him the first 15-20 minutes because he looked like he did not care what I went through. Later, I realized that his indifference was just in my mind because he proved that he listen very careful and heard every word. He was very efficient and courteous. Unfortunately, the contact person/liaison that was assign to me was not. She kept me in the dark and very upset, did not call me with the updates, did not respond to e-mails or phone messages She was slow to process the claim with the insurance (I called them first and started the process myself) and was very annoyed when I sent the e-mail to the doctor.rnAt the end everything worked out and I am ready for the procedure.rnrnI will update after the surgery.
Dr. Roslin impressed me the very minute he began to talk. He knows his stuff. rnHis office staff is great Debra is great. I think i called her daily 3X for 1 week prior to receiving authorization. rnrnDr. Roslin's bedside manner is ok. He is not the chatty type, but he does take time and talk and shows that he truly cares.rnrnHe is a combinationof both surgical competence and good bedside manner. I think Surgical competence outweighs bedside manner in general.rnrnHe plays no games, let's you know this is not magic, but tool.rn
I'd say that if you are looking for a cuddley bear doctor, who will be your best friend, and one that wants to sit and have tea with you, then Dr. Roslin is probably not the best surgeon for you. If you want the absolute best surgeon possible, who is knowledgeable and skilled, then Dr. Roslin is the beset surgeon for you. rnrnI wasn't looking for my new best friend, I was looking for the best surgeon that my insurance would cover. I went to Dr. Roslin as a 2nd opinion. The first surgeon told me that I could have the RNY, but it would have to be done in 2 parts in an open operation, because I was almost 500 lbs. I went to Dr. Roslin, and he was confident that he could perform the RNY or DS in one surgery. After much research, I choose to go with an open DS (he could have done the DS Lap in 2 parts). rnrnAfter my first consultation with Dr. Roslin, I knew i found my surgeon, and had all my clerances faxed over to Dr. Roslin's office. rnrnDr. Roslin's has 2 partners Dr. Kurrian and Dr. Shah both are very skilled surgeons as well. The one thing that impressed me was that one of these doctors was always on call in case of an emergency. The office staff is excellent, they had my insurance approval within a couple of business days from when they faxed it over. rnrnThe follow up care has been great. Dr. R has had me in 3 times right in the very beginning after surgery, at 2 weeks out, 1 month out, 3 months out, 6 months out, and i'm due back in for a 9th month appointment. rnrn
What can you say about the guy that probably saved my life. Dr. Roslin truely is the BEST Surgeon in the field. He has a kind of tough love approach which I really liked. If you want the top Surgeon out there he IS your man, if your looking for someone to hold your hand and sugar coat you he is NOT your man. I was never at any point in pain except for some gas, I still can't believe he did anything to me.
i first met w/ dr. roslin at manomides (sp?) in bklyn about 10 yrs ago. at that time the surgery seemed too risky and i was doing well on phen/fen. but after struggling w/ gaining and losing and depression so many times since then, i wanted to talk to him again. my impression was still the same: he's a real guy. easy to talk to. very sharp and well-spoken - clear and candid. listens extremely well. no bs.rnrnthe staff was extremely helpful and friendly. i went to a support group and everyone speaks glowingly about dr. roslin. i really feel like i'm in good hands. rnrnscrew bedside manner. although he seems like a nice guy, frankly i care a lot more about the fact that he's one of the most respected surgeons in the country if not the world.rnrnthe practice at lennox hill is a great place to start or finish your journey. highly recommend (so far).
