Mitch is a flat out pro and one of the most competent surgeons you'll ever find. I was referred to him by another wls surgeon who felt the DS procedure was beyond the ability of my local hospitals bariatric team. It's seven years later and the SADi DS procedure Mitch performed has eliminated 100% of the excess weight and still helps keep it off.
I've seen comments about his bedside manor not being warm enough which to me is really his no nonsense direct and highly professional approach. Ultimately the only thing that matters is a great surgeon performs a flawless surgery the day you arrive. Everything else is superficial BS.

Had surgery with this doctor 5 years ago. Worst doctor ever. Go to anyone else at this practice except Roslin!! You have been warned. Heres my long and detailed experience...

If youre looking for surgeon with horrible beside manner, speaks over you, and is super condescending, you've found your guy. This guys ego is huge. He will be quick to tell you that you are wrong despite providing him with proof and research. If he hasn't seen it happen, it can't be true.

He was completely unpleasant when i refuse to have the weight loss surgery of HIS choosing. I wanted the sleeve and he kept telling me how i'd fail despite my extensive research and my decision being final. He kept pushing the Duodenal Switch.... even after i had made it clear i was not changing my mind.

Fast forward to the day of surgery.... the nurse came over to do my labs and confirm the procedure. To my shock... This surgeon had put down on paper that I was having the DS and not the sleeve!! I quickly corrected the nurse and was shaken. The nerve of this guy... trying to do whatever he wants.... including forcing a surgery you did not elect or give permission for.

After waking up from surgery, one of the first things he did after feeling on my belly was say: "you look fine... You should have gotten the bypass or DS.... I'll see you in a few years for a revision". I was so upset. The last thing anyone wants to hear after surgery is that they will fail.... and especially from their own surgeon!!

Fast foward to 3 months post op... started feeling ill. Developed a migraine that lasted 5 days and one day 5, a fever that would not lower. I lost my vision and could not open my eyes or move my neck.

I immediately knew it had to be my stomach... despite many efforts reaching out to him and quickly dismissed me with "In my almost 20-something years I have never seen anyone with complications after 3weeks post op.... Not MY patients anyway"

I went to the ER , where they called him and he told them it's probably meningitis!! They were trying to do a spinal tap and i refused! They did not want to check my stomach because HE told him not to bother. I lost my mind and started screaming because I was in pain, lost my vision, and feverish. I demanded a CT SCAN of the stomach and it wasn't until I formed a scene that they actually gave in.

I couldn't understand what the objection was since I had insurance and it would cover it.

He didn't feel like showing his face so he sent a resident to the ER to tell me: "Dr. ROSLIN ordered a CT SCAN so you can have peace of mind".... which obviously means shut me up ????

Not only was he and his "20-something years of experience" VERY wrong, turns out, I had became septic after an undetected leak.... which turned into a huge abscess. He would have left me to die.

After the ct results came in, the same resident came in with people from the Radiology department to twll me that I had to be taken immediately into interventional radiology to drain the abscess and insert a JP drain.

I ended up in the hospital 9 days, on a banana bag, IV, heavy antibiotics and a PICC line into my heart because my veins could not handle all the treatments.

And not once did he apologize or show face. Not once did he call to follow up with me. After surviving that ordeal, I never returned to him.

Oh and I'm happy to report that I lost 200lbs and am succeeding and thriving... no thanks to him.

Guess those years of experience aren't all that after all.????

Dr. Roslin is a top-notch surgeon. He saved my life! I have lost 140 pounds in 15 months and I am finally at my goal weight. Dr. Roslin is straight forward and doesn't always tell you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to hear. He is not afraid of surgery and he is super confident. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Roslin saved my life, twice! When I went in for my DS, I had been on injectables and pills for over three years for severe psoriasis. What was going on outside, I suspect, also meant I was a mess inside. After surgery on March 26th, I was not doing well, and they had to open me up on the 28th to find that I had 2 liters of blood around my discolored liver. I suspect the weakened state of my immune system was the culprit. Dr. Roslin performed the open DS from 12:30 am-3:30 am. A few days in the ICU, and recovery time at home, and I'm feeling great! More amazingly, one month later, most of the psoriasis has disappeared. Thank the gods that I had a great surgeon!

If you are looking for someone who will sweet talk you, Dr. Roslin is definitely not your person. If you want someone who will be straightforward, frank, and honest, Dr. Roslin is your guy!

Also, a shout out to the rest of the staff at Lenox Hill Bariatrics - the office staff works very hard, the nurses are great, and Sharon, the dietician, is excellent. There is a monthly support group which is an invaluable part of learning how to use your new tool, the DS, to lose weight. If you stick with Dr. Roslin, you will be in good hands!

Dr. Roslin is the best. My first impression of him was that he takes his job serious and personal. Some may say his beside manner isn't that great but from my experience he can be both super serious and friendly. All of my visits with him were very pleasant.By now you should know he is a Superior surgeon... I appreciate his practice and his personality. I am certainly repeaping the results. He adressed all my concerns, risks and possible outcomes very clearly. I consider myself blessed to have had him operate on me. THANK YOU...DR.Roslin

When I finally made the decision to have WLS I researched the DS online for 6 months before I picked Dr. Roslin as my surgeon. I wanted to find the best surgeon in NY, and thankfully, Dr. Roslin is one of the pioneers of the DS and one of the best in the bariatric field. As soon as I met him and listening to him talk on his seminar, I knew I wanted him as my surgeon. He's articulate, informative and has a no nonsense approach, and he makes sure you understand what you'll be getting yourself into with this surgery and understand all the risks, possible complications and life-style changes (commitment to required nutritional supplements and higher protein which might be expensive), so tends to be bluntly honest, which I like. If you have any questions you can ask him and he'll answer. His office staff handle everything with my insurance, so once he approved me for surgery I just had to get the medical tests he wanted and then just waited for the surgery date. The nutritionist on staff should be better informed on the needs of DS patients. Dr. Roslin asked me 3 months before surgery to lose 15 lbs. I lost 26 lbs. in 6 weeks on Atkin's diet. On the day of the surgery he almost didn't do the surgery when I said I didn't want to get a blood transfusion if I needed one, so I had to sign a consent form before he would do the surgery, but he promised he would be very careful so I wouldn't need a transfusion. I had a bit of trouble coming out of the anesthesia, which I had warned about since same thing happened on a previous surgery to remove gallbladder a few years back. A day after the surgery when I was still vomiting a lot of vile, was extremely bloated and unable to drink any water, I called his service late at night and he returned my call and talked to the night nurse so she would give me the right medication. A couple of days after the surgery he came to visit me and found me walking the corridors, which he commended me for. I think my experience at Lenox Hills Hospital could have been better, but that wasn't Dr. Roslin's fault. The office visit are a bit quick after a long wait, but no real complain. On my last visit to him, he was very happy with my weight loss and told me I've lost enough weight to get the tummy tuck and gave me a referral to a plastic surgeon. If you want one of the best bariatric/DS surgeons then I highly recommend Dr. Roslin. I'm very glad I picked him as my surgeon and that he approved me to be one of his DS patients.

Dr. Roslin is my Angel! He saved my life! He is an amazing, talented and gifted surgeon. I had the Duodenal Switch with him on 03/14/11, zero complications and excellent results this far. I would do it all over again in a heart beat.

I met Dr. Roslin in July of 2011, I thought he was very informative and kind. I feel that he knew what he was talking about. I met him in his office, he gave me plenty of time and I never felt like he didn't want me there. My surgery is scheduled for October 20, 2011, and I am meeting with Dr. Roslin one morre time before surgery. I am putting my trust and my life in his hands.

I met Dr. Roslin on July 7th in his weight loss seminar. He is very articulate, and communicated all the options of weight loss surgeries at this seminar. I went in thinking I wanted an gastric bypass and opted for the DS. He does this procedure all the time, and I am CONFIDENT in Him. I was worried, and called his office and he actually took the time to call me back and answer my questions. I am putting this sick body in his hands on September 22, 2011, and with faith in GOD and prayers that God with guide the doctors I will start my new life on that day too!
