Very informative and spent alot of time with me and my wife explaining everything. He even drew pictures.
The staff is very nice and on top of things.
I don't know much about the after care yet...will let ya know once I am post-op. It seems structured so far.
He also addressed the risks involved and explained very well how he will try to minimize the complication risks.
I would rate him excellent so far.

WOW.... Almost 1 year later, Dr. Bilof I am so sorry if you read this. How can I not comment more of this Man... Well I must say that Dr. Bilof and his Staff has been "The Best". Since my initial consult with him on 09/19/03, I must say, no complaints. Our 1st meeting, he was very informative and attentive. Very mild mannered. About 2 weeks after one of my post op visits, I believe it was my 3 month post op visit, he made a personal call to me. I was very surprised. I had mentioned some concerns to him @ my visit and he was checking on me. I thought that was very nice of him. He could have easily had one of staff members contacted me, but he took a little time out of his VERY BUSY schedule to pick up the phone himself and gave me a call. How wonderful. Thak You Dr. Bilof. You and your Staff are"THE BEST"...
Dr. Bilof is very nice, he takes time to answer all of your questions. My first appointment was to have consultation during that visit all of my fears and worries were answered. His office staff is very nice and knowledgeable. He is very involved in aftercare and stresses that his patients go to the support group meetings and nutritionist. I would recommend him 100%
My surgeon was FANTASTIC! We originally found him when his partner had too long of a waiting list. He was new to the practice of Dr, Nusaum (I guess about 1 yr) so his list was only a few months wait. We figured Dr Nusbaum would never have brought someone on who was sub-standard - so I gave it a shot and had the consult with Dr. Bilof. My first impression of him was kind, gentle and very informed. He has good reviews from everyone I encountered who knew him (nurses at my endoscopy, etc). He answered every question that my husband and I had and we were not rushed at all. The day of surgery he spoke to me before to make sure I was ok and also in the OR to confirm I was comfortable, etc. The procedure (LAP RNY) went off without a hitch. He visited me twice in the hospital and took his time for any questions, concern that I or my husband might have had post-op. HE even went out of his way to let us know of a Pharmacy on our way home that carried the meds he was subscribing - they can be hard to get....WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!
His staff was terrific getting my paperwork, insurance and disability, etc through. I felt like I called 100 times in a few months and they were ALWAYS polite!
The aftercare is very structured and the support team at St Barnabas (livingston, NJ) is AWESOME!.
I would recommend him to EVERYONE!
Immediately upon meetin Dr. Bilof he put me at ease. No question I asked was treated as unimportant. He was willing to answer all of me question and explain each step of the process very well. I now look forward to our next interaction because that initial concern over an uneasy feeling in now gone. At this point in time I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Bilof or his staff. But remember I have only had one formal meeting with Dr. Bilof.
