From the beginning, I was impressed with Dr. L's knowledge and concern. I will be having a procedure that is different from most called a sleeve gastrectomy. It is actually the first part of the DS. Dr. L is the first surgeon who actually said he could help me, being a Crohn's patient. I was told that as a Crohn's patient there are a few different risks involved, but Dr L explained them all in detail and I have great confidence in him.rnHe stresses that you must follow the after care and attend support meetings and I intend to follow these.
I finally got to meet Dr. Lutrzykowski on Monday February 18th. This was my consultation day. He was very nice! I also lilked that he took the time to go over the surgery in detail with me, he went over my history and never did I feel rushed like we sometimes do when meeting with a doctor. He was honest and didn't sugar coat anything. He did stress following his instructions pre and post op to decrease the risks. I have taken this information to heart and intend to follow it to the letter.
I finally met Dr. L, and i can tell you that he knows his stuff! I like him and i feel confident that he will do me surgery without a flaw. Straight to the point and answers all your questions without a doubt. He was also concidering doing both my boyfriends surgery and mine the sameday!! I like that he is willing to do that much work just so we can have surgery sameday and heal the same time. Not to mention the 8 or more diploma's on the wall in his office. Which by the way was full of only canadians when we were there for our consultation. lolrn he knows his stuff and i am anxous for my surgery which will be sometime at the end of april/2008.
I met with Dr. Lutrzykowski on May 11th , 2007. He is very kind and caring. He seems genuinely interested in me as a person and how this surgery is going to affect my life. I was in tears just thinking about the changes that will happen because of him. I am very happy that I was told to look him up. Julie of course was fantastic...I hope he pays her well....tehee!!!!
I was impressed from the first visit to Dr. Lu's office. He is very Professional with terrific bedside manners. He explained everything about the surgery that I was going to have. He also explained other kinds of surgeries with similar results. He gave me all the risk factors and answered all the question I had, and I had many. rnrnAt the hospital, I think, I got better care than other patients because of Dr. Lu. The nursing staff made sure of this because they were going to hear about it if my care wasn't the best. rnrnIn the office he has two angels, Julie and Elizabeth. I cannot say enough good things about them. They will do anything for you.rnrnBefore I left bloomfied Hills, MI we had an hour's meeting to tell me how to take care of myself. He gave me a lot of paperwork on what to eat and when, what vitamins, minerals, protein etc. - He made me sign forms saying that I will follow his instructions.rnHe also, told me to call at least once a week and talk to either his staff or himself with my progress. He does not refuse a call when I don't feel good. Whatever the cause may be. rnrnFinally, I think that on a scale of 1 to 10 I will give him 14. He impressed me that much. Both his medical compedence and bedside manner.rnrnI recomend him to anybody. He is great.rn
Dr L was thorough and answered all my questions the first time I met him. I didn't feel rushed at all even though I had a LIST of questions. He has a very quiet demeanor about him that some people may take as cocky but once you are in his office for a few minutes you feel more at ease. He tells it like it is. No sugar coating at all. Which is good, this is a MAJOR life changing surgery. Looking back i don't think I would have wanted someone who joked around alot. rnrnHis emphasis on aftercare and diet were very strong and direct. He is very concerned about you after the surgery. I was told to call the office if I had ANY questions or problems. Even though I haven't had to yet I am sure that anything I need to know will be answered right away. rnrnI was torn between RnY or DS when I started this journey. I am glad I chose Dr L and the DS. I think it was the smart decision based on my needs.
Dr. L was very direct on my initial visit, he explained in great detail his concerns. I had a number of co-morbidities and he outlined what the expectations and risks could be.rnrnMy confidence and trust increased during my surgical experience.rnrnGood follow through, no nonsense.rnrnNo negative comments.rnrnIf you want warm fuzzy bedside manner Dr L provides a caring but direct no nonsense approach, good and full explaination of procedure but no irrelavent chit chat.rnrnAftercare is regarded as very inportant.rnrnYesrnrnThoroughly, several times and answered all questions, from family also.rnrnExcellent, wonderful care in immediate post-op period.rnrnI think he has excellent surgical competence and for me his direct approach style of bedside manner suits my preference for honest feedback, created confidense and trust for me.
