Linda A. Patterson Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr Patterson made a very good first impression. She seemed very caring and genuinely interested with me. Even though it was close to 7:30 pm she answered all my questions. She explained the whole program from start to finish and encouraged me to call with any further questions. I was very comfortable with her overall. I believe she's more than qualified to perform my surgery as well as handle my needs as a person.
From the first time I met Dr. Patterson I was extremely comfortable. She has a very pleasant personality and seems to genuinely feel our pain. All of my questions were answered very professionally and in language that I could understand. Her office staff was also very efficient and friendly. I have no reservations of putting myself in her hands.
I have met once with Dr. Patterson. I was very comforted with her level of concern and her desire to give full answers to all of my and my husband's questions. I chose this medical group after much research and personal recommendations. Dr. Patterson seems to have all the appropriate knowledge and background and has now been with the practice, to the best of my knowledge, almost a year. I trust that means her experience level and coordinating methods for the surgery are now tried and true.
i first was seen by dr schreiber he went on sick leave so then i had dr patterson and i like her very well, i like having a female dr glad they have one on staff. over time it has not change. the office staff has always been very nice and helpful except for the first time i call wanting information they said they would call me back and never did call back the next day and the girl i talk to was very helpful and no promblems from then on. THERE ISNT ANYTHING I DONT LIKE ABOUT DR. PATTERSON. SHE IS EXCELLENT ON AFTERCARE THERE ARE NURSES ON CALL EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL CALL BACK RIGHT AWAY. DR. SCHREIBER WAS RIGHT TO THE POINT LET ME KNOW THAT THEY DO 60% AND I HAVE TO DO 40% AND I AM FOLLOWING EVERYTHING I SHOULD I HAVE NOT CHEATED AS I AM AFRAID TO DONT WANT ANY THING CRAZY TO HAPPEN. DR. SCHREIBER WAS VERY BUSINESS LIKE AND DR PATTERSON SEEM MORE DOWN TO EARTH, THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE THAT IN THE BUSINESS WORLD AND HE WAS JUST ONE OF THEM.

My first impression of Dr. Patterson was "Oh my god, I'm 46 and she looks younger than me!" She was ready to answer my questions and also had some good information for me about the surgery and the expectations. There is something that really impressed me about her as a person as well as a physician...while my mom and I were sitting in the waiting room for surgery, she would come in and talk to me about how long it would be before I would be taken in and prepped. But it wasn't what she was saying so much as how she said it. Instead of towering over me like an authority figure, she leaned over and talked to us on our eye level. I know that seems silly but its the little things that I notice about a person that impresses me. She let me know exactly what steps I would be taken through all the way to the operating room. The anesthesiologist was the same way...when she came in and talked to me, she also went through the steps I would go through all the way to the OR and then to recovery. There was nothing I didn't "like" about Dr. Patterson. She was totally approachable and helpful. She was also very excited for me and very positive. During the hospital stay Dr. Patterson would come in and look at the incision and drains (I call them PEZ dispensers)which I totally didn't expect to see, (or to see an open incision)and explained to me what they were, why they are in place and when they would be taken out. She was very upbeat. The day of discharge she went over how important it was for me to make an appointment for a 3 week followup, how important it was to follow the diet instructions carefully and what could happen if I try to advance my diet too soon (although the two books they hand out and the 3rd one during the hospital stay explained all of the steps to recovery so well that there were no surprises.) During the hospital stay I was given a video tape to play on a TV/VCR they brought into my room. This tape was made by the nutritionists and went over various meal planning ideas for when I got home. I will be attending my first support group on March 28th which I am looking forward to. There is usually about 2 meetings a month from what I have seen. These will be very important plus I'm sure I will get some food ideas. The Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery has the most in-depth patient training pre-op as well as post-op I could ever have expected. In the pre-op training, there is a whole day of recovery expectations, risks of surgery, benefits of the surgery, food preparation during recovery and importance of physician followup. Blood work at certain intervals was also stressed as well as vitamin and mineral supplement importance. I don't think there is anything I wasn't told about. I would rate Dr. Linda Patterson as a wonder person as well as surgeon. Her bedside manner as well as surgical competence has surpassed anything I could have asked for and I am sure she knows how much her patients appreciate her and bless her every day for making a change for the better in their lives. It is now a time to Live your life instead of living to eat. The only negative thing I could possibly say about this whole procedure is the first week home is a real bitch to coin a phrase, but after that first week, I suddenly started feeling so much better and was able to get in and out of bed on my own and take care of myself a bit better. I still needed help with the plastic wrap over the incision and the incision dressing change but hey, what's a little inconvenience compared to a lifetime of quality living?
I liked Dr. Patterson right away, she was easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. I asked a bunch of questions and she answered them all. I felt that I had already learned so much doing reserch over the web that talking to her was almost secondary but glad that she was so easy to talk to.
Dr. Patterson didn't try to cover up any of the "bad-side" of this surgery. She made every effort to let me know just what to expect.
She was very pleasant at my first visit even though they were running late. My appt. was at 3pm and we didn't get out of there until after 7. She didn't make me feel like I was keeping her from going home. She took her time and answered all of my questions. The office staff was very friendly and helpful.
