Linda A. Patterson Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
When I met with Dr. Patterson she seemed to be a very caring person, She was informative and sincere. She covered the pros and cons of surgery. She explained the risks involved in surgery.
My biggest concern was Dr. Patterson being a new partner and maybe not as experienced in performing this specialized operation. However, this program is designed for two surgeons to be present at all times during surgery. This gives me the added comfort I need.
I haven't hear a whole lot about aftercare so far. I know they have a program, but I'm unaware of it's content.
The office staff seemed to be overwhelmed with processing paperwork. They were professional, but too busy to give you much time. I think that this gives the patient a false perception that the office staff doesn't want to be bothered with you, or they don't have time to be bothered by your questions etc.. I happened to be in their office again on a quieter day, and felt like I wasn't bothering them as much when I asked questions. I think it's a little unfair to the office staff to make only two of them handle the massive amounts of paperwork and people at the same time. I think they need another person or two to help lighten the load of paperwork, at least on the busiest days following a seminar or on consult a day.

Dr. Patterson was wonderful to have as a surgeon. She was very personable, kind, and comforting. She has great bedside manners. She truly cares about how her patients feel. I can't say enough good about her. Obviously, I would recommend her for surgery to anyone.
THANK YOU SO MUCH...DR. PATTERSON..YOU'RE THE BOMB!!!
I knew that I wanted a woman doctor and i was fortunate that St. Vincents' had recently obtained a female, Dr. Patterson. She was great. Upon our first meeting, she was kind, she didn't speak down to me, she spoke to me woman to woman, as we should be spoken to as physical health consumers. My first impression was a very positive one, and that impression was renforced over time. What was presented to me in the beginning was consistant. The staff at the bariatric clinic office are all very helpful, friendly, kind, knowledgeable and client centered. Actually, there was nothing that i liked "the least about her".
Future clients should know that she does a wonderful job with the surgery, her incision is great! I have seen other incisions and they do not compare to the work that Dr. Patterson does. She is there for you when you need to ask questions or if you have a problem. She informs you of the risks of surgery, she is very realistic and again, she speaks in laypersons language so that we are able to comprehend the information she is relaying. I would rate Dr. Patterson very highly! I have to say that her surgical competence ranks as highly as her bedside manner. She gets an all around A+.
(Obviously I was happy with my experience). And even though you are saying in the paragraph below that a 100% positive reviews are "generally less informative or even 'suspect'", I find that insulting as the experience I had with the bariatric clinic and Dr. Patterson was wonderful and I found no part of it lacking in anyway that I was aware of. Sorry if that is not informative, I just happened to been fortunate enough to have had everything come together in a positive way. And, there are doctors out there like that, that happen to be competent with their skills and their bedside manner. I can only report what I experienced. Now I did have a negative experience with a staff memeber in the clinic, where my paper work was not submitted to my insurance company and I had to be the one to figure it out and call to get it cleared up, which added even more wait time onto the already lengthy one that I had to wait for my surgery. This particular person was either having a bad day or perhaps would do better to look for a position where she doesn't deal directly with the public. She did not have a very good "bedside manner" so to speak. The balance of my experience was great.
I met with Dr. Patterson and liked her immediately. She seemed like not only a nice doctor but a nice woman. I went with my sister and her 3-year old, and she never seemed bothered by a child touching everything and chatting! I wish I knew how many surgeries she has done, I really don't know alot about her. I heard that St. V's does the 2-surgeon approach, but I don't know (no one told me) who the other surgeon would be. I would like to speak to others who had her as their primary surgeon. But I feel I chose the best facility, after having done alot of internet checking, and following everybody's info for months. So, I hope someone can fill me in.
Dr. Patterson at our first meeting seemed kinda stand-offish. Over time we found out that she is not like that at all. She is a very caring person. She visited me in the hospital several times. She took the time to talk and explain different concerns with me. She was not pushy about sending me home after the surgery, she actually wanted me to be a little more perky before I left the hospital. As of now, I would recommend her 100% to other patients.
At St. Vincent's Charity Hospital, there are always two surgeons operating at one time. This also made me comfortable since, Dr. Patterson is new. The other surgeon was Dr. Sonpal, although I still have never met him, so I can not comment on his personality.
