05/07/03: OMG!!! I was able to be fit in for my consult with the surgeon today. She was very nice and answered all of my questions. I was told that I had to have an echocardiogram because I had taken Redux and Phen-Phen in the past. I also lucked out with the psychiatrist, they had a cancellation and scheduled me for 05/22/03. The only thing that the CCBS is waiting for is my evaluation from the psychiatrist and then my paperwork will be sent to the insurance company!!

Dr. Patterson was very professional and direct with me. When I demonstrated that I understood the surgery and the most common risks she provided more information and corrected my errors.
She took time to answer the questions I had.
My meeting was brief and I will return for further updates after I have met with her again and had surgery.
The surgery care was top notch. I had great care by the practice while inpatient and no complications.
My post-op visit was not rushed and my concerns/questions were addressed.
Dr Patterson seemed a little firm in her decision that I must lose weight before she would consider performing the surgery on me. At first this seemed a little ridiculous since the operation is to deal with weight loss however I found this to be extremely helpful in the longrun.
The office staff is often hard to get hold of at St Vincent, appearantly due to the amount of people seeking the surgery these days.
Dr Patterson, along with the other doctors at St Vincent are very proffesional in dealing with this surgery. In my opinion it is probably the top program around in how they deal with the patients. It a continuing program from the original seminar that you must attend thru the day long info session/pretesting day to the surgery day and after. It extremely thorough and complete. All aspects of the surgery are explained and discussed during the times before surgery.
I am on second week post op and as far as I can tell so far Dr Patterson has done one heck of a good job.
She seems to be a somewhat quiet person but still willing to discuss anything with you. I would reccomend her to anyone in an instant.
When I first met Dr. Patterson, I thought, COULD SHE REALLY CARE ABOUT SOMEONE AS HEAVY AS ME?? She is very thin and I felt that she could not relate to my problem. On the day of my surgery, I thought she was very business-like. That sort of made me more nervous than I was. While I was in the hospital, after my surgery, I loved her. She was very kind and gentle. During my post-op visits, I grew to like her even more. She was much more talkative and friendly. I would rate her as a wonderful surgeon. She saved my life!!

The Staff was great. I was waiting for Dr. Patterson for over a hour and they had to reschedule because of a emergency with a patient. They were very simplathetic for the wait. They did take a long time to send my insurance papers in to my insurance company. Once they did I had approval in about a week after that!! Latonya Riley was my contact at CCBS and she is great! Always returned my calls and emails in quick time. Over all St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland Ohio is great!! I would reccommend it to anyone!!

My first impression was she was having a so-so day. She being pregnant I supposed being on her feet all day wasn't a fun thing. I was only able to talk to her for a short peroid of time and I had my wife and kids with me which turned out being a bad idea since the kids were getting a little tired of sitting around. The office staff is very nice and helpful. Dr. Patterson has been wonderful. She did a great job with my surgery. Since I am doing well now.
