A 36 year old over weight female with knee problems, back problems, sleep apnea, and tired all the time. I had to make a change in my life to have a life. My surgeon, Dr. Schmitt, is very nice, has a good bedside manner, and easy to talk to. The support group meetings are very important. helps you know you are not alone.

I have been overweight my whole life. My whole family is overweight and I accepted that I would be overweight my whole life. I had been on every diet on the planet. Having surgery is the first time I have lost weight and had hope of keeping it off. Dr. Schmitt is very interested in helping with my weight loss goal. He helped me make the best decision about which procedure was best for me. After using Dr. Schmitt I realize that I made the best decision in choosing my surgeon.

I was looking for a tool to help in weight loss and I have been given that tool with the adjustable gastric band. Dr. Schmitt is very informative and he and his staff make sure you are well educated with what you need to know before and after surgery to help make this successful.

I am 63 years old and many health problems. I had adjustable gastric band surgery July 7, 2008. Dr. Schmitt is the best. God has blessed him so much. He is so passionate about obesity. The support group meetings are very helpful. The whole staff is very caring.

In July 2007 I weighed 337lbs. I had several health problems, arthritis in my feet and knees, made it almost impossible for me to walk. My surgery was July 2007 and I have lost over 100lbs and I feel so much better. My health problems are better. Dr. Schmitt has been great. He was very thorough in explaining the surgery to me and I felt he had educated me, to the point that I knew what to expect during and after the surgery. He has been very supportive. I did not feel alone during this journey.

I started at 288lbs with high blood pressure, fatigue, and low self esteem, and now I weigh 162lbs. I no more have high blood pressure and I have more energy. Dr. Schmitt and the bariatric surgery program are the reason for my continued success. I chafed at all of the requirements, but I'm glad I did it! The support groups are an excellant resource and help pre and post-op.

I have dealt with weight problems most of my adult life but especially after 2004 when they removed my thyroid and I ballooned from 170 to about 260-275. Dr. Schmitt was very informative. He did not seem rushed like some doctors. He worked with me with his staff for over 3 years battling with Blue Cross to get approved for surgery. Anyone considering surgery, band or bypass, should participate pre-op and post-op. I learn more there than anywhere else, I am 2 years post-op and I am still learning things. It is a life long commitment and is the best decision I've ever made.
