Dr. Hoddinott is wonderful. Spoke to me in words that I understood and answered all my questions. His staff is just as wonderful as he is, making the whole process just that more easier and less scary. He is on you about your follow ups!! Keeps on you about your proper nutrition and excercise and vitamin intake. I could not have wished for a better surgeon. He and his staff are just wonderful!
Dr. Hoddinott is a very caring and nice Dr. He explained everything about the Roux en Y gastric bypass surgery that I had. He lets you know the risks and explaind everything ab out the procedure in full details. As for his "bed side manner" so to speak, he made me feel at ease. On the day of my surgery, Right before It was my turn to go in to the OR, he leaned down and told me he was going to get something to eat, he was hungry. I will never forget that because it made me relax and laugh. He loves to tease me about my red hair and I just think he is an all around nice man. I am very glad He performed by surgery because thanks to him, I have my life back and I am looking forward to becoming a Grandmom in July and I have so much energy now I can't wait. Thank you, thank you
Dr. Hoddinott!!!
My surgeon was Dr. Kevin M. Hoddinott from bethlehem, PA.
My first impression was that he was very realxed and more than willing to answer all of my questions. He took his time explaining the entire process and has been very helpful as well as his staff, especially Rhonda. Any questions before or after surgery you can call right up and get real answers. I feel like they take good care of me. My only advice to anyone having the surgery with my doctor is that if you have a bunch of questions write them down before your appt! Dr. Hoddinott has a excellent bedside manner but usually seems in a hurry but will answer your all your questions. After you become post-op he is constantly making sure you eat your protein and taking your vitamins ya know doing all the stuff you are supposed to be doing. I had a complication on my staple line with leakage and infection and as soon as I needed help they made an appointment for me the next day. I had no major surgeries before my open Rny and I trusted him with my life.
First impression - he scared the heck out of me. That quickly changed. He seemed to truly care. His staff have always been quite courteous. The least I liked about my doctor -he guessed at my weight (his scale was being repaired at the time). I had complications and he got me through some very rough times.
My surgery was 11-20-2001 long before the hospital had a Bariatric Department. Most likely I was told all the ins and outs, however, my memory is not that great. I cannot recall. In Feb. 2004 I moved farther away from his office and have no follow up visits which I am now finding out I need. I cannot compare Dr. Hoddinott with another Bariatric Surgeon. Personally, I feel I got the best.
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
I had my first consult with Dr Hoddinott on 08/11/2005 and It was everything I needed it to be and more. Not only did he answer all the questions that I had written down (honestly to I might ad)_ but even those I did not think of. He was very complete to. There are many aspects to the DS that you do not get from the internet and he drew me a diagram and did a great job explaining it. If his bedside manner is half as good as his inital visit with me then he is going to be one of the best surgeons that I have ever had. He was great with expalining the aftercare program and what he expects for you as far as realistic expectations. As far as future patients go I think the best thing you can do is be realistic about your fears and present them to Dr Hoddinott and you will get an honest answer, no matter what it is whether it be the mortality rate, complications or how the surgery works he will be honest but only if you are honest with him. Remember you are making a lifesyle change and he is the person giving you the tool the better you know him the better you will feel.
I was also impressed with the staff, they were kind and thorough when it came to the paperwork and getting you ready for your pre-op tests. rhonda is great she explains everything and makes you feel like you are the only person she is working with(even though you know you are one of hundreds on her plate). What a great way to start a doctor, staff, patient relationship.
My first impression of Dr. Hoddinott was that he was a little crazy. He was the most relaxed doctor I have ever meet. He joked with me and made me and my husband feel so very comfortable. My impression has stayed the same except that my trust in him has increased. The staff at his office are very helpful and very friendly. You can ask anything and they are there the help you. I had a problem right after surgery with my incesion and they were there to help me immediately. The only thing about Dr. Hoddinott that might upset someone would be his no worry attitude. I loved this about him because I am the same way. Believe me even though he seems to not worry or has a care free attitude he is very carring and very concerned about you as a patient. Dr. Hoddinott is adamit about your after care and you diet after the surgery. He asks every time he sees you
Dr. Kevin Hoddinott was referred to me by Dr. AJ. Ackerman, my family physician.
He is a very personable person, he also looks like Jimmy Buffett. His staff are also very nice and informative. Rhonda has been like My Angel, getting everything done and coordinated.
I can't write anymore, I need to go lie down for a nap.
