I found Doc.Hoddinott to be very down to earth, very straight forward yet with
a great sense of humor. He stated that as with any surgery there are risks, with me I have Heart problems plus my size. His office staff seemed to handle things smoothly and were very very helpful.

Hewas very confident in himself and the surgery. he took the time to answer all my questions, and since i researched the internet for months i had pleaty to ask him.
I am 16 days post op staples are out..I had VBG not bypass..he was supportive when i went for my first visit and his associate Dr Luke was also compassionate. I was misrable this was more psycological than phsical. I was in pain and i was vomiting a lot.
His staff are all competent and supportive also

I have my first consultation with Dr. Hoddinott on June 4th. My appointment got moved out for several weeks but there was a cancellation so I got it moved back up.

Dr. Hoddinott was wonderful! I feel extremely comfortable with him and trust his knowledge and experience. He is very personable and answered all my questions.

The staff at his offcie was very easy to work with. Phyllis who does the insurance paperwork was topnotch and very friendly. I felt that everyone was doing their best to take care of me.

In the hospital Dr. H was very comforting prior to surgery and checked in with me every day in the hosptial. He doesn't offer too much info if you don't ask so be sure to ask questions if you have them.

He is very intent upon explaining that you shouldn't eat too much post op and to take it slow and keep it soft. He believes in keeping the pouch small so your intake does not need to be large. I highly recommend that people follow their Dr's advice vs. using all the resources from the Internet initially. As I learned, each Dr. each surgery and each patient are different. One Dr. may recommend something different because their procedure is a little different. Dr. H knows what is best for his patients and that should be followed. Phyllis is wonderfully supportive and has been there for me each time I called.

Overall Dr H's staff, his competency and his bedside manner are great!

I was fortunate enough to have met Dr. Hoddinott (I'll call him Hotty!) because he's absolutely adorable and he's so compassionate and sweet. I met him before because unfortunately my mother has been on kidney dialysis for 2 years and he did all her surgeries for her shunts in her arm, etc. I had gone to many appointments with my mom and had no idea he performed the gastric bypass surgery until i visited the www.obesityhelp.com website and found his name and I was absolutely THRILLED that he did the surgery, because about 10 years ago I started my research on this procedure and was very UNHAPPY with the surgeon at that time that I had gone to. Hotty is SO helpful and he will take as long as you need to go over any question until you absolutely understand the answer. I even took a Weight Loss Surgery book along and he went over it with me. He is WONDERFUL and I feel completely comfortable with him. I am still terrified (of course) but I'm so glad he's the one doing it.

I had my first meeting with Dr. Hoddinott today. I instantly felt comfortable with him as he explained the surgery, risks, complications, advantages and disadvantages. He took time to answer all my questions and was very laid-back and easy to talk to. His office staff was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I couldn't have been more pleased with the whole experience.

Dr Hoddinott is a great guy. I have never met a surgeong that makes you feel so completley relaxed. He explained the surgery completely. I had done my homework so I was quite prepared with a list of questions. Also, my sister was with me and she asked questions too. He was great. Even though my sister asked the questions he always addressed the answer to me. His staff was very nice. At the first visit he didn't talk alot about aftercare, his concentration I think was on making me understand the surgery and how I would feel afterward. The nurse told me that a week before the surgery we would met and talk about the aftercare. Based upon my initial meeting, I think he is great. I will keep you up to date.
The only negative thing I can say at this point is that he needs to speak louder or I need a hearing aide.

Dr. Hoddinott is wonderful. I am an RN and on my first visit, I interviewed him thoroughly. He answered all my questions about himself, which helped me to feel more comfortable with him. He is very knowledgable and has many years experience. During my hospital stay, he and his residents kept me well-informed every step of the way and came to see me frequently in the hospital. After the surgery, I had fevers and a high white blood count, indicating infection. Dr. Hoddinott handled everything perfectly. He and his resident's and office staff are God's gift.I have never had a team of doctors who were both excellent clinically and had such warm bedside manners. I can't say enough about them.

Let me say, I was truly excited to go see this surgeon because I knew someone who had RNY done by him....

WAS NOT IMPRESSED -- STILL SEARCHING!!!!!

First, his receptionist (pretty chinese woman) was very unpleasant to me, asking me personal questions over the counter while others look on - why don't they give me a medical questionnarie to fill out - this guy doesn't................Strike 1

Second, his nurse put me in a room and said I'm sorry I have to do this fast I have someone else in the other room..... Wasn't I there for an appointment too??? Strike 2

Third, I meet the doctor, ok things are looking up... he seems nice, answered all my questions, and just then he tells how his patient died a few days after this surgery.... ok he was being honest even though I did not ask that question!

Lastly, I met with the insurance girl, helpful in scheduling my appointments, but when I asked how long before I would know if I am approved, her reply "I don't mean to be rude, but I have a lot of other pepole ahead of you"... even I could have said the same thing in a nicer way to a new patient..ya know Strike 3...

NOW... I am still looking for a surgeon
