Dr Moran and his whole staff are awesome! Me and my partner both had the RNY bypass done this month, he on the 14th and me on the 21st. It has been so much easier knowing we have a staff of good people to call on if need be.
I have read that Dr Moran can be a little gruff with his bedside manner but I really found him to be awesome. He is direct, to the point, no non-sense. If you don't have any questions after he explains everything then its good to go.
The whole team worked hard to get us approved and taken care of, due to a scheduling conflict we were even able to get our surgeries done a month ahead of the planned time!
Love this man and his staff!!
I went to seminar of his a few yrs ago when I 1st considered WLS. I thought he was a little dry, but his staff made up for it. Since that time, he's still somewhat dry, but damn good at what he does. rnThe first few weeks after surgery I think I called every other day. The staff never (or didnt seem) got tired of hearing from me and reassured they were/are here for me. He does have an aftercare program and sponsors monthly support groups.I would recommend him to anyone considering wls. Once you attend his informative seminar, things get rolling pretty quickly.
Highly recommended. I came into WLS with High Blood Pressure, Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, depression and Heart Disease, I had had a heart attack and actually died for a few minutes in October 2007. with that came 3 titanium stents, with about 9 medications including daily insulin injections. Initially, i had chosen to have a lapband but because of a large hiatal hernia that he discovered i further decided to have the RNY, thank God Dr. Moran Fixed the hernia and Did the RNY for me at the same time. He told me about the risks involved and i thought that he may have been hesitant because of my medical history but i let him know that i was serious and expecting only the best. I think he studied the situation for a while until He felt comfortable with it. I have to say-Dr. Moran is qualified, certified and bona fide. He puts his heart in his work and looks out for his patients. My Opinion? 10 out of 10, Excellent, The Best. Dont expect him to hang around your bedside chit chatting though (lol) He is a man of few words. My life is better because of him being in it, no diabetes, no high blood pressure no depression 4 dress sizes down and over 50 pounds lighter with the best yet to come because I am a work in progress. Thank You Dr. Moran, You are appreciated.
When I first meet my doctor I knew I had chosen the right one. He was very light spoken but direct. The office staff is great! If you are not quite sure of bariatric surgery I encourage you to attend one of Dr. Morans seminars like I did and on that very visit I knew I had made the right choice in doctor and procedure. He stressed the importance of aftercare, this is very important for overall sucess of the surgery. Even before many of the questions about risks of surgery, he had already address the risks. Overall he is who I have and will recommend his competence and bedside manner exceeded my expectations.
My first impression of Dr. Moran was that he was a no nonsense professional and very very serious about doing the best and most professional job possible. That all was very true, and I also found that he is a caring person and is definitely there for the patient. I had a gall bladder emergency less than three weeks out of surgery, back to hospital in ambulance, and Dr. Moran was there on a Saturday and took the gall bladder out. He is obviously a very skilled surgeon and a very ethical person. There are no surprises, he is very upfront about benefits and risks, the need for long term life changes, and ongoing follow up. His entire staff is very friendly and very committed to good care and making sure that all facets of recovery and lifestyle changes are attened to. While I would prefer surgical excellence over bedside manner, it is really nice to have the luxury of both. I would highly recommend that if you are obese and want to change your life, see Dr. Moran. He and his staff and programs have sure changed mine! I am 13 months past surgery, 100 pounds thinner, and have not had to use a CPAP or take ANY asthma meds for over 8 months now. For the first time in 30 years I feel like I have a life. I even went roller skating! Don't wait, do it now, what you gain is SO much more than what you lose!!
Some of you have written that Dr. Moran has a less than desired bedside manner. I had lap band a year ago and am still losing weight. Slowly, but surely. I truely adore Dr. Moran and feel dealing with fat people effectively requires a no nonsense approach. People telling us we have an attractive face and are still pretty has most likely perpetuated our indulgence. It is nessesary for us to face the decison to change medically in a \"no fluff\" fashion. Dr. Moran is a busy man that doesn't have time to play on words and worry about how he is precieved. Meeting our emotional needs is not his role. Although, during my last appointment I commented that I had waited for over an hour. He appologized, made no excuses and assured me it would not happen again. The following week I recieved an appology in writing along with a Starbucks gift card. When it comes down to it, this man is by far the best and most curtious individual I have ever dealt with in the medical field. rnDr. Moran ROCKS!
Dr. Moran was so cocky. He was so cocky and arrogant that I just knew that I was in good hands. No one that cocky and arrogant would want anyone to say anything bad about a job they had done. After surgery, I realized that Dr. Moran is cocky, but he cares. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Moran. His office staff is sloppy though. They had me scheduled for the wrong surgery on the wrong day and did not notify the hospital. They had me scheduled for Lap Band and not gastric bypass. Everything was straightened out in time for my surgery though. Dr. Moran is serious about sticking to the rules to be healthier in the long run. His exact quote to me was, \"You've been given a second chance, now it is up to you to take advantage of the opportunity that you have been given to live a healthier life.\" I would take this confident, cocky, arrogant surgeon over a sappy surgeon anyday. Dr. Moran knows he does good work and he can afford to be cocky. I would overall rate him a 9 out of 10 and the only reason why he lost that 1 point was because of the hell I went thrugh with his office staff.rn
My first impression of Dr. Moran is that he was patient friendly, concerned about any questions I might have. My impression has remained the same. His staff is also very friendly and easy to talk to. I can't think of one thing that I least like about him. Future patients should know that he is very experienced. He really emphasizes after care. I attend the support group meetings they have once a month in which they usually have a guest speaker. This month the psychologist is speaking on how to cope through the holidays. Dr. Moran's office was very upfront with the risks associated with surgery. I would rate him a 8.5. His bedside manner and surgical competence is great.
My impressions of Dr. Moran come only from attending his seminar. Dr. Moran seemed very soft spoken. I was glad we sat near the front, so we could hear him. He was very direct and to the point. He seemed very knowledgeable and did not sugarcoat things. He answered all the questions people asked and did not seem at all judgmental, which was nice. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about him. His nurse Janelle was very sweet and knowledgeable as well. JoAnne, another of his office staff, was kind as well. I felt comfortable talking to all three of them. All three of them emphasized aftercare. It was nice to hear from JoAnne because she had had WLS. I like the fact that they have a support group that meets once a month. Overall, I was very impressed with Dr. Moran and his staff. This was just my first impression. If my opinion changes after my first appointment I will let you know. rnrn11/11/08 I had my initial appointment at Dr. Moran's yesterday. I was so impressed. Everyone was super nice from the time we walked through the door. I was actually early for my appt., but didn't have to wait long. I saw the PA Katie, Nurse Janelle, Jenny (the financial lady), and Michelle. They were so kind and helpful. Michelle got on the phone right after my appt. and was able to schedule all my labs and stuff for 2 days later. Jenny took care of scheduling my appts. with the nutritionist and psychologist. Everyone was awesome. At my next appt. I will see Dr. Moran. They made me feel so comfortable from the time I walked through the door. The appointment went GREAT!! I can't imagine going anywhere else!!
