Dr. Nye seemed quiet to me when I first met him, although I'd heard som much about him that I felt like I already knew him. His staff was so nice and seemed very caring. I'm 100% sure he's the right doc for this!!!! I couldn't be happier

I really liked Dr. Nye. He really had a great bedside mannor with me. He was very educational. His office staff is great. They have been VERY helpful and sensitive to my privacy and treat me like they really care. The office wait was not long and he did take his time with me, despite his busy schedule. I did not feel rushed at all.
His aftercare is addressed in his meeting with you. He seems more interested in the patients aftercare then I have seen with other doctors. He addressed all the risks, but I was pretty well aware of the risks going into my meeting with him. I have been researching this for over 3 years! lol
Despite my research, he did still bring new info to the table for me...I liked that.
The only issue that I would have with the office staff is them not hearing me, even when they have the papers from the insurance company, that all the referrals and other "busy foot work" that most ins companies require, is not required with my carrier. My insurance carrier has reminded me a couple of times, and I tell them that I am aware of that. But they still are awesome and very friendly. I would have no problem recommending Dr. Nye to anyone...at least to give him the chance of an office visit. Great competency and personality.

My first impression of Dr. Nye was that he is a no-nonsense kind of fellow. And you know what, I was right! When it comes to his patients, Dr. Nye is all about getting the job done...and getting it done right! He has a wonderful demeanor. He's open and willing to answer as many questions as he can...despite the crowded waiting room!! :) His staff is just as crazy and funny as they come. They will work for you to get what you need. And it's always in a timely manner. The typical procedure is to be seen post-op in his office for 3 months and then you are turned over to the Bariatric Center in the hospital for continued follow-up care. Dr. Nye follows-up with his patients for 5 years. I'd have to say that this is one surgeon that knows what to do and can do it with the utmost competence! I'm thrilled with the results and the aftercare I've received in this office!

My first impression was wow hes great. Over time hes even gotton better if anything is wrong all I have to do is pick up the phone tell them I need to speak to Dr.Nye and he calls me right back I mean quick!!! His staff is wonderful they're a bunch of sweet upbeat girls always smileing and happy to help you out. Rose is wonderful to she is Dr.Nyes nurse and wife. Dr Nye has a wonderful after care prog the first in our area and it was set up by him he likes to follow you for at least five years. He really addresses all the risks of surgery before you can even think to ask him a question. Personally, I would rate him a ten!!

Dr Nye was very straightforward with his explanation of the procedure he would perform and answers to my questions. He seemed to know the things that would be foremost in my mind and answered many of my questions before I had a chance to answer them. He was interested in my husband's opinion and support for WLS. Also, he never seemed to be in a hurry to move to the next patient. I had the impression he was totally focused on me during the time I was in his office! After he found out my husband had triple bypass surgery a few years ago, he seemed sincerely interested in how he was progressing. He emphasized his belief in the aftercare program. He completely addressed the risks of surgery to the point that I am now completely at ease with my decision. What I liked least about my visit was waiting for an hour after my appointment time and watching three people who arrived after me get seen before I was. In my opinion, their appointment scheduling needs some attention.

He seemed a little cool at first. Still feel like that somewhat, but his staff is so personable and make me feel that any question I call with. His office is a bit cramped. Never seems to have enough room for the patients and lots of them bring 3 or 4 other people with them (I guess for support). HOWEVER, I feel very comfortable with him and confident with work.

Well, I was scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday, November 17 with Dr. John Tyson. On the day of my pre-op, Dr. Tyson's office called and said he was no longer doing gastric bypass, and I needed to find another doctor. He had lost a patient! What a setback! Now, I'm more nervous about the surgery. I have an appointment with Dr. Nye on my original surgery date. One and a half weeks of upheaval trying to be approved to see an "out of network" provider! However, Dr. Nye was my first choice for surgeons, so I'm excited! Dr. Nye's office has been great to work with (over the phone). They are willing to take Tyson's BCBS Health Options patients who were already approved for the surgery. I'll try to remember to update after my appointment on Wednesday.

My first impression of Dr. Nye was that he's quiet, but thorough and also very nice. My impression did not change. His office staff is very outgoing and nice. The least thing I liked is going into his office and having no where to sit (standing room only). I would recommend anyone to see Dr. Nye for bariatric surgery. He stresses walking 2 to 3 hours after surgery as well as for the rest of your life. You must be sure to take multivitamins afterwards and get a B-12 shot once a month. He has a bariatric support group for post op,pre op, and those contemplating weight loss surgery. He explained the risks as well as having it in writing. I would rate him at 95% because no one is perfect. I believe surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
